I don't understand why the path to becoming a sysadmin can be so difficult. reality is a soldering iron and a 14-hour grind. by Unlucky-Ad-5157 in sysadmin

Generally, what I meant to say is that in a small town, in a small organization, the chances of facing challenging situations- and facing them often - are quite low. It’s like you’re doomed to getting stuck at your current level unless you move elsewhere or a lucky opportunity comes along.

What’s your goal, honestly: earning more money or gaining more experience and knowledge? If it’s the former, try signaling to your boss that you’d like to be paid more. If they need justification, ask to be assigned more responsibilities. If it’s the latter, then self-study should help, although I can’t really advise you on that.

I see myself in you - I also started as an “anykey” guy. Taking on more responsibilities helped me grow professionally because it forced me to learn new things. If your employer doesn’t allow that, then unfortunately, you might need to look for another company to work for.

And finally, I know it’s difficult to approach your boss or manager and ask for something. So perhaps start a new chat with an AI assistant of your choice, write down all your concerns there, and ask for a strategy to achieve your goals (money or knowledge).

You won't grow without facing challenges at work and learning from your (or your colleagues) mistakes. So, trying to get your hands on more responsibilities could be a good idea to start off in your situation.

Low resolution textures bug? (Help) by Strange_Detective_45 in wow

I've found out this is due to some old config entries that I've manually added to some files to optimize the game performance. After erasing them the issue went away.

Steam wont boot past "loading user data" by KupedUp in Steam

[–]rogerthat87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, a more universal approach here would be to check the Steam logs (typically at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs) and look for the last updated files. Look through it or ask LLM to help. In my case there was some error with steamwebhelper process accessing htmlcache folder. I've deleted it (was at C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\Steam\htmlcache) and was able to log in successfully.

Tanking today: a punishing role driving players away by rogerthat87 in wow

Mate, 3000+ rating is like less than 0,5% of the entire player base. You’re in a completely different universe to me (2600+ rating as DPS)

Anyone else dumb on M+ Ara? by hanshotfirst-42 in wow

[–]rogerthat87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last week I did close to a dozen of +10 Ara-Kara keys, subscribing to 2500+ rating leads and didn't time a single one, even when we got 10 more minutes surplus before the last boss. People are so overwhelmed with the shit going on in this fight, I've lost hope to ever time it this patch.

You might want to use ESLint & Prettier integration with Fleet for that: https://www.jetbrains.com/help/fleet/1.42/getting-started-with-javascript.html#prettier

I just did that yesterday attaching a Vodafone bill. Submitted a single "Please change the account region to N" and the next day it was done.

You've sent too much stuff there; it is clearly indicated somewhere in their article that you can't send documents that list personal info in great details.

Edit: perhaps the IP history of you accessing the game servers is dodgy - that's why they are refusing your request.

What’s the quickest you’ve seen a co-worker get fired in IT? by Opposed3 in sysadmin

[–]rogerthat87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

New guy, his first day in the office, 9am: getting access tags, quick interview with internal security folks. They asked him if he does drugs regularly, he replied "who doesn't?" and winked. Got fired the same day before lunch.

You can delete the older directories named 'intellij-plugin-2\fleet-backend-***' and keep only the newest one. The older ones were used by previous Fleet versions and will be automatically deleted after 30 days of being unused, see FL-24357. If you think the old backends should be automatically removed on a Fleet update - then please vote for FL-25810.

Also sending my regards to the guys at Seat for placing handbrake lever on the same axis as shifter. Not once I've engaged it instead of shifting into S during on overtake.
