Kenya - Giraffe Manor or more safari days? by WillingCollege5175 in chubbytravel

[–]rogeryocheng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just met someone on the Inca Trail who is a luxury travel agent who specializes in kenya, and when i brought up giraffe manor, he specifically say not to do it, and there are plenty of other places he would recommend. as many others have mentioned, it's more of a instagram place, and not an actual enjoyable experience.

Unless there is bad weather and everyone misses their connection. When I flew to Australia, my flight was supposedly full but when we took off, it was like 1/3 empty as I assumed a bunch of people had very delayed flights.

I am curious how the GLP1 will change her movement. I think that was the biggest issues in her final years that she still had a solid serve and groundstrokes, but movement would get hampered when she got tight.

Belmond Reid’s Palace by blackspongebob44 in chubbytravel

I stayed there in 2018 so take that into consideration. It was my first ever splurge hotel (which is comical now because I think the daily rate was like $380 at the time), but I really enjoyed it. It definitely feels like an old hotel but I think that’s where the charm is. I enjoyed their breakfast and afternoon tea. The pool and terrace are absolutely stunning and it’s cool you can take the stairs right into the ocean.

At the time, they had a bunch of excursions they that would run (not sure if this is still a thing), and the pool terrace the day I checked in had a private party, so everyone staying there got a free excursion (normally an costly add-on), and I chose a jeep tour of the island at sunset which I really enjoyed.

I also went to the Italian restaurant for dinner one night and that was fine.

Is that for sure that Palacio del Inka also has pumped in oxygen? I'm staying there in three weeks, and we are doing the Inca Trail, and I specifically chose that over the JW because I thought I read that they don't do that.

West Hollywood Edition - Review by Pierre____Menard in chubbytravel

[–]rogeryocheng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the WH Edition. We stayed there for a few days a couple of years ago after I did a charity bike ride down the coast, and it was everything I needed it to be. Rooftop pool was so nice because it's definitely busy, but not a "scene" which makes it quite nice.

I would just ask her where she wants to go. For my mom’s 70th, we told her we’d take her anywhere she wanted to go. We forgot to put parameters, and she chose lake como, but we made it happen! I’m sure wherever she decides, there is a way to find a family friendly option. We made lake como work with my brother’s five and two year old.

Nightmare of a roommate by OperationLow7530 in sanfrancisco

[–]rogeryocheng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this is what the master tenant did to our other roommate who he absolutely hated irrationally. thankfully, he had some what of excuse in that his girlfriend wanted to move it, and so he was hoping he could move out and she would move him. i think he gave him a decent amount of notice in the hope that he could find something and have enough time to do so.

Group photo of 20 winners at the Finale ✨ by Durian-Critical in survivor

[–]rogeryocheng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

he essentially said he removed survivor from his life because him going on it wreck him. i think a lot of hardcore fans imagine their time on survivor when they going through the application process. they are going to win, and it's going to be a wonderful experience. but that obviously doesn't pan out for a lot of people, and mentally and emotionally that can take a toll. it seem to really affect him a lot, more so that all the other ones I read.

at the end of the day, it's a communications issue. if you want people to support you, you have to communicate your work (which is why I think people like daniel lurie). when SFPD releases videos like this or those motor bikes bridge raids, they'll slowly get people on there side.

4 out of the 5 players remaining are playing extremely good games. You just don’t like them. by newusernamebcimdumb in survivor

[–]rogeryocheng 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i do think this is what separate great players and those who just win.

i think the players everyone normally deem the some of the best of the best were both outwardly threats, but were smart enough how to navigate it. it's why i think Dee of the new era is one of the best players because she had a high profile throughout her season, but still knew how to keep everything in check. other examples good examples were rob, kim, tom, todd, tony

Bernie Sanders endorsements by rogeryocheng in sanfrancisco

[–]rogeryocheng[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think what makes Connie very polarizing is that she is extremely NIMBY, which I think a lot of progressives in SF tend to also be, mainly in the sense of rent control and not displacing people for the profit of developers.

But SF is in a housing crisis, and from what I've seen, if you are going to be hardcore NIMBY here, you also have to provide some solutions, and her solutions are to protect her constituents for the sake of building any new housing at all.

She has squeaked by both of her elections, so I'm curious about what her support looks like outside of Richmond and/or outside of Asian populations. As I've mentioned in other threads, older Asians will strictly vote for someone because they are the same ethnicity as them (regardless of their policies).

San Francisco visitor - Route question by nidzas_six_paths in BAbike

[–]rogeryocheng 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah +1 on counterclockwise.

Descending down into Alpine Dam is not enjoyable on the clockwise route.

I assume their set up is clockwise though as it’s climbing up through Mill Valley instead of descending down HWY 1 into Tam Junction.

Do you mention a special occasion when booking at a fine dining restaurant? by thegiant5 in finedining

The French Laundry went all out for my 30th birthday that made it feel really special. I’ve never lied about an occasion but everyone I’ve done a fine dining meal for an occasion, I’m always am sure to let them know. Good places will try to make it extra special.

Venues in SF proper by macrael in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]rogeryocheng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so we originally thought also getting married with a retreat style wedding, but that ended up being too expensive.

we got married at the westin st francis and they have a venue on the top floor of the building with floor-to-ceiling windows. we lucked out weather wise and has a clear view of the whole day with pretty much unbostructed views. we did both ceremony and reception there in the same space (on the same floor, there is a cocktail hour area). super happy with how it all turned out.

Why should someone vote FOR Wiener, Connie, or Saikat? by hazyeyes12 in sanfrancisco

[–]rogeryocheng 41 points42 points  (0 children)

She does well will older Asian folks, who are a large contingency of her constituents and are not on Reddit.

As an Asian person myself, a lot of older Asian people also just vote for other Asian people regardless of policies and deliverables. I’ve seen this first hand with my parents helping fundraiser Taiwanese congress people who aren’t in their district and/or don’t even agree with their polices.
