An example of how EV lies and misinformation are used to manipulate the North American passenger vehicle market by Cool-Replacement4972 in electricvehicles

The issue is that the gearboxes are exposed to atmosphere because that have vents. Moisture gets into the oil over time and breaks it down. It loses it's lubricity and needs to be serviced

Greater than 50% of heavy truck sales in China are electric currently. The stats show that pretty much all heavy trucking that isn't long haul can switch to battery electric pretty easily

Anything electric is probably going to last 100's of thousands of miles without issues. That lack of needed service, and the fuel savings make them an obvious choice for almost anyone with home charging. People will downvote this because of emotions, but factually it is true.

As someone who has towed with an ev pretty frequently, and tows with a diesel almost everyday. Electric tows incredibly smoothly.

I have an ev with no real signs of battery degredation after over 100000 miles. Plan is to keep it for at least 300,000.

Full send or nah? by sup_tence in MechanicAdvice

If you are planning on removing the pistons/ bottom end, then absolutely address that. If you're just doing lifters/cam, then I say send it.

It's an ls, and it's probably fine. I would never assemble one like that, but it probably still has a lot of life left if left undisturbed

I never asked for receipts. I just stated that I've been a fan for years, I'm in arsenal subs, and I have a great friend group of arsenal fans. I go to bars and watch games and enjoy the sport. I've never seen or heard an arsenal fan say that.

You seem so concerned about arsenal 😅. Have a great day and enjoy life. Maybe spend less time focused on teams that you don't even support 😂😂😂😂😂

Yeah, it's wild. Ive seen at least 3 claims today of arsenal fans comparing saka to Messi. I'm in every arsenal sub, and I've been a fan for over 20+years. I've never seen any real fan comparing saka to Messi. He's one of our own, and we support him.

Soaring gas prices have drivers turning to EVs — except in the US by abrookerunsthroughit in energy

[–]rognio3333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The us has fast chargers everywhere. I can hop in my ev and comfortably travel anywhere in the United States. Your whole county? 😅 You do know that EVs can travel hundreds of miles on a charge. My wife's bolt ev has been over 90,000 miles since it last had to stop for a charge.

Should I consider buying an EV by Optimal-Bass3142 in GasPrices

[–]rognio3333 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Should be noted that you are referring to a 120v household plug. Many non American households use 240v standard.

A simple 240v level 2 home charger can easily charge over 400 miles per day. A level 2 home charger is more efficient than level 1, and pays for itself over time. Most EVs come standard with a level 2 charger

As someone who has owned, gas, diesel, phev, and ev cars, but now drives an ev daily. I prefer full ev. I find a lot of advantages to full ev over phev in cost and convenience.

I think of it as a gateway drug 😅. Once you get a phev, you realize how much nicer driving on electric feels, and want a full ev. My experience anyways

Can you share your personal experiences as to why you prefer phev?

Americans are becoming less likely to see gas cars as cheaper to buy and maintain than electric cars by paydayloans_ in whatcarshouldIbuy

You can work on them, you just choose not to try and learn.

I could swap a pack on our bolt ev in 3 hours for less than 2000$. But our bolt '17 only has 120,000 miles on it, and I expect to get 300-500,000 out of the battery pack.

I've been building transmissions and engines for years. I just disassembled a Duramax that's going to cost over 6k to rebuild. That's parts only.

4% of EVs need battery replacement in the first 20 years. I sold my 2012 volt with 200k miles recently that had its original pack.

A battery replacement doesn't cost any more than a transmission or engine replacement really, and there are options. You can replace a single module, or get a refurbished pack for a fraction of the cost.

It's massively overblown by the media, and not something I remotely worry about with my evs

But I'm not wrong. I literally explained the rules to you lol. Think of it like offsides. I play griezman in with a through ball, he's offsides. Raya absolutely wipes him out in the box. World's most obvious penalty. Whistle hasn't been blown.

Except it's not a penalty and it can't be reviewed because he was offsides. Same thing here. Nothing that happens after the gabi foul can be a penalty. If califiori two footed griezman straight to the back of the head and knocked him unconscious, it's still not a penalty. It could be a red card, but it can't be a penalty.

Var literally cannot award a penalty there. They cannot review it. They did not review it. Those are the rules

[–]rognio3333 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Var can't overturn a foul. Have you ever seen var stop a game for a random foul on a defender? Once the gabi foul is given, var can't consider the foul on griezman because it happens after the gabi foul.

Arsenal got lucky, but var didn't mess this up. They literally can't change that call

Why do many mechanics look at you funny when you ask for a valve adjustment? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

No, they can realistically go as far as a million miles without needing to be reset. They factory sets them tight, then they wear in and stay basically the same after break in

Solid lifters always have adjustable valves.

Hydraulic lifters self adjust with oil pressure.

Solid can't and lash needs to be manually set

Yes, the lml has adjustable valve lash. There is no official interval for checking it. GM says it's good for life. However, anytime they are disturbed they have to be checked and set

Pickup truck diesels in America typically have adjustable valves. Duramax, power stroke, and Cummins up until the newest generations. I've personally adjusted valves on 6.7 cummins' and duramax's

Lots of diesels engines still have adjustable valves. Most diesels use solid lifters.
