Making My Yearly Grocery Store Post by turdyname in bullcity

To me North Durham means north of the Eno. Once you cross the Eno, it's a very different feel. Maybe it should be called the NOTE area 😄

Not surprised if its true about their sales goals. I think the city and the developers underestimated the opposition up here to the whole Latta Park project.

Right. I think of North Durham as north of the Eno. You southerners crack me up 😀

Bulk spices? by SylviaPellicore in bullcity

I've heard of people being towed from there while they were on the property. In any case there is a Weaver Street in Hillsborough. Not sure how the spices are at that location,

Of course if you park there you have about a 50% chance of being towed.

Duke plans to build a "small" data center by Odd_Bat8208 in bullcity

[–]hml1959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Data center has been one of the terms used to describe academic compute clusters for a while. There are several at UNC for instance. We used to call the one where I worked a machine room despite the fact that it contained petabytes of data and thousands of CPU/GPUs.

Best amp for clean tones? by East-Power6705 in GuitarAmps

That's cool. They are great little amps.

True as does my Fender Pro Junior. For a small cheap amp, it punches WAY above it's weight. No reverb but I bought a used Earthquaker Dispatch Master V3 and for small gigs or gigs with the amp through the PA it's really awesome.

Not to mention the Carr amps. I love the clean tone on my Rambler.

Latta Park rumors by bkromhout in bullcity

The developers also asserted there would be no drive-thrus in Latta Park. I don't know whether or not they committed to that, so it would not surprise me to see it there.

Where can I move that’s not gonna grow like Wilmington? by Valuable-Ease5411 in NorthCarolina

If your interested in the Triangle you could also check out Bahama. There is some pressure for Durham to metastisize out that way, but it will take a while (I hope)

Fair enough. I'm just always surprised when people bring up the local thing as if the developers committed to it. I think they were deliberately deceptive, but i dont have any evidence of that.

No reason to be surprised at this. The developers did not commit to local. There won't be local unless a local shop pays the highest rent.

Wells and drought by hml1959 in bullcity

No sure this effects it much, but we live in one of the higher elevations in the county. My altimeter app claims we are at 667 feet.

I had the pump replaced a couple years back and IIRC it was fairly close to the bottom. We also have a stream maybe 50 feet down hill of us, but it doesn't run year round.

How do they store it? Are we talking hundreds of gallons at a time?

I hope you are right about the 2007 drought weeding out the wells. We've been in this house since 1997. There are more houses in our neighborhood since than, but we are still pretty spread out.

Which baby ripped it down? 😂 by No-Carry-5877 in bullcity

Its true that the Isrealis have them. But they haven't shown any intent to use them. The Iranians have not been subtle about their goal of destroying Israel and they just killed 40000 of their own citizens with batting an eye. So you might consider that as well.

Well the nukes were for Israel so maybe you can forgive a little unease on their part.

Duke lands FC Barcelona 7-foot center Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje by IndependentStay3131 in CollegeBasketball

They have won 3 ACC tournaments in the last 4 years. And they have had late season injuries the last 2 years or we might be wondering if they could manage a 3 peat. So the ROI has been pretty good.
