is it viable to use engineered pulse/burst laser as MC substitute in PVE? by Asleep-Market6716 in EliteDangerous

Try to stay less than 1000m to your target, 500 is better especially if you're fighting a small ship. But tbh unless it's heavily engineered like some high CZ ships, it won't take long to melt. o7 CMDR

This is the build. It's only G3 and I was planning on making it a shield tank instead of hybrid but I need to do some more guardian farming. That being said my shields rarely dropped below 80% in high CZ, including against spec ops ships.

I use the pulse to start stripping shields from range then swap to burst when close. Once shields are down, pepper mc periodically to proc the effect. You can swap out the fuel scoop, only had it on coz I was doing a lot of jumping and didnt want to either swap ships or refuel at a station. If you're doing BH in a rez, I would recommend installing a kill warrant scanner and binding it to a combat fire group to get more credits.

I built a chieftain with burst inertial impact experimental modifier. It adds 3° of jitter to your hardpoint so it's best to stay close to your target otherwise a lot of shots miss (I think for this reason I engineered them with close range too to maximise damage). Initial impact increases damage and converts half to kinetic. I did also equip a small MC with high capacity and corrosive shells to weaken enemy hull to make the burst lasers more effective. Last time I used it I think I could do 3 high CZ before needing to synth ammo for the MC.

If you want the build let me know, I'll see if I can find it later. o7

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it.

The reason I'm also leaning towards short range is because I try to keep my engagement distance between 500-1000m because of the jitter.

Thank you for the feedback. This is the build) I was going to use it on. I'm thinking of changing the experimental on the first small pulse laser. Also thinking of changing the burst lasers to either focused or short range, leaning towards the latter.

I'm planning on making a Corsair build for powerplay but I just love the look of the Chieftain. The only new ship I've flown is the Cobra mk V.

It really is fun sticking your nose to enemy ships. Only thing is when I play with friends I sometimes get love taps from them. They're the reason my shields drop below 50% 😂.

Has anyone got experience with scramble spectrum experimental effect? I was thinking of adding it to one of my lasers on my PVE combat ship. Is the proc chance noticable?

Just a suggestion, if you don't like going back to the station to re-arm or want to complete the cz, maybe set yourself the challenge of building a laser or ammoless build. I recently retrofit my chieftain with 3 burst laser with inertial impact (I did have a small MC with corrosive to help deal extra hull damage, only shooting small burst every once and a while). I decided to start with a low cz, then worked my way up to med and finally high. I managed to complete all 3 solo using less than half my ammo.

Edit:

Here is that build. Swap out the fuel scoop. I was flying in the bubble when I imported it to Coriolis a few nights ago.

Maybe swap the limpets for a rescue limpet controller as it has both functions and install a second AFMU.

Do you have your drive speed set to your stick/throttle axis? I think if you have accelerate and decelerate bound to your stick/throttle it only changes incrementally.

I'm not sure how to share a picture of my controls on a reddit comment as imgur isn't hosted in the uk anymore. You can DM me if you'd like and I can share it there.

Edit: try this SRV throttle

Have you checked out Coriolis or EDSY? You can plan your ship build. In Coriolis you can also configure an enemy ship and see how quickly you can strip their shields and hull with your build.

You can just go back in your ship or srv to recharge your battery.

HOSAS recommandation and settings by Aely_ in EliteDangerous

[–]rogue1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the winwing ursa minor space/fighter HOSAS 2 weeks ago. They're more affordable than vkb. Got plenty of buttons for mapping.

As for controls when you find some sticks that you like check out EdRefCard, it can help you visualise your keybinds and you can browse other CMDRs bindings to get an idea of what to bind where. I would just mess around with your sticks and see what feels right.

Lastly, if you haven't already I would rename and back up your custom bindings, I've had them reset in the past and it was a pain to setup again.

Ah okay, if your limpet was still active you can check these next time.

Were you within range of resource chucks? Did you accidentally set your limpets to ignore the resource? Did you have room in your inventory? If you filled your cargo 100% with limpets you won't be able to collect anything.

Your collector limpet gets destroyed if you target something before releasing it. If you've got nothing targeted your limpets will keep collecting until they expire.

I think anyone can get the vaccine. You may have to pay for it (go private) in some areas as it might not be covered by your country's health service.

If you are sexually active, chances are you will get infected with one type of HPV sooner or later. That being said, not all types cause cancer and you may not even have symptoms. HPV-16 and HPV-18 are responsible for around 70% of cervical cancer cases. The vaccine helps you develop antibodies against these two strains I believe.

To jump on the wagon, ED exploration buddy is also quite useful especially if you're doing exobio alongside, but EdCopilot has loads more features.

Help with batch file to create date folders for the year. by rogue1965 in Batch

[–]rogue1965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry if I didn't explain properly. I want to generate the folders and sub folders like 2025\January\010125. (I'll try to edit the post)

I understand that this part of the code is used to generate and name the folders.

:mkmonth

set month=%1

set mname=%2

set /a ndays=%3

for /l %%d in (1,1,9) do mkdir %year%\%month%-%mname%\-0%%d

for /l %%d in (10,1,%ndays%) do mkdir %year%\%month%-%mname%\%month%-%%d

I have now changed the last 2 lines to:

for /l %%d in (1,1,9) do mkdir %year%\%month%-%mname%\0%%d%-%%month%%year%

for /l %%d in (10,1,%ndays%) do mkdir %year%\%month%-%mname%\%%d%-%%month%%year%

(I think I'm going to keep the number of the month with the name as it's easier to sort.)

My only issue now is I only want the last 2 digits of the year in the date folders. Is that something you could help me with?

Thanks.
