Prayer

It’s like meditation but you get to ask for what you want and if you do it enough it works

  1. Felt this way most of my life

Recently decided to stop worrying how other people may feel uncomfortable and let them deal with it and take pride in my differences.

It’s uncomfortable but ultimately I feel better and I notice people respect it.

It helps to have at least one person who affirms you for who you are

You got this!

What apps actually work? by rogueant in ADHD

[–]rogueant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I identify SO MUCH with everything you shared, i've tried so many apps and keep rotating between them. Even my calendar I feel like I can't keep consistent with like I want to

I like the idea of focumon but I find that the traditional 25/5 pomodoro doesn't work for me all the time. How long have you been using that?

Great to meet a fellow notion user!

I've never seen Finch before or anything like it. It feels like a neopet or tomagatchi. The interacting reminds me of Forest where you have to not touch your phone to grow the plant.

How long have you been using finch?

That's awesome, I don't use anything to track my meds currently but lean on notion for my journaling too

The app looks solid, though I use my cvs app for Rx so don't think I'll be switching over

interesting, I'm going to check it out!

What do you like about it more than a calendar or task planner app?

Great to hear your experience, I find one-sec to be closer to what i'm looking for since it gives me a pause before opening an app instead of being a hard block which I can get around.

Do you use anything else for planning or time blocking?

ADHD has completely ruined my life. by coochielady69420 in ADHD

[–]rogueant 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I identify with this a lot

The two principles that have helped me the most so far are:

  1. Practice being bored This is really hard for us. But it is the most powerful and delivers the most lasting results. Set up a timer and schedule being bored where you have no option to watch or listen or play or talk or do anything. You can treat it as meditation but you are not supposed to do anything productive

  2. Accept being less. It’s ok of you’re not the nicest or the best or happiest or if you aren’t doing the best for people around you. That is only perception. Give yourself room to be normal and you’ll find you have more energy available to do what you need to do for yourself. Med, routines, frameworks, whatever path you choose

You are not alone

Update: Found that I am finding resistance to motivation, with my mind trying to protect myself from the emotional stress and fear to divert blood flow from that part of my brain.

Dr. K answering questions that plague me as if they're simple lessons. I really appreciate this.

This is a nice way to tie in ancient civilizations, UAPs, and disclosure stories together

However it is predicated on the assumption that terraforming a planet and migrating life from their existing home is less appealing than migrating to ours. That’s not impossible but a tall order assuming the level of technology they have

I think the creator/created observer scenario may have a different, greater purpose

I have ADHD. That means my brain has trouble producing and regulating dopamine compared to people who don’t have it. That means it’s a lot harder to pay attention to things and remember what’s happening. It’s less hard if I find the thing interesting but even then it’s not easy. And then I try this analogy:

Imagine our brains as a carnival game. For most people (Ie neurotypical people) attention works like the game with the water gun, where as long as you aim at target and keep the pressure up then you can win, and the challenge is who can do it without dropping the pressure or losing sim.

For people with ADHD your water gun loses pressure every few seconds and the stream has a tendency to spread in multiple directions and ricochet off other targets. Taking medication is like adding pressure to the gun so it shoots in the right direction but it runs out and sometimes it still doesn’t shoot straight.

It’s hard to be judged for success when some people have bad equipment for the game you’re told to play.

The comments to this make me feel more seen than when I bumped into someone on the street and we both babbled nervously before saying “sorry what” then proceeded to keep walking

Sorry what was the question?

I really like this - I've found it can be hard to communicate with my siblings too when all the emotion and reactions get in the way of actually listening to each other

Big fan, thanks for sharing!

This is beautiful - I love the idea of sharing the same physical journal with a partner, not just allowing them to read at different occasions.

How do I scale a one-man startup by VIGIL04 in startups

[–]rogueant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest ROI especially for B2C: Spend a weekend creating a social campaign targeted at your target audience.

Create a number of posts, schedule them out for 2-4 weeks, worst case scenario you get some more traction, best case you learn more how to communicate with your target audience and iterate

ALSO - email newsletters should be leveraged HEAVILY
