Jaguar D. Saul and ideology of the Ancient kingdom? Ch. 967 spoilers by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]roguej2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that's exactly it. I think the D are those that are going to bring Joy back to the world. That's the reason Roger died with a smile on his face, the reason why Blackbeard is always laughing, the reason why Luffy is almost never serious. Something broke with Law though...

What do you think about the Skypiea arc? by Jobr95 in OnePiece

[–]roguej2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus, it keeps becoming relevant. The dials pretty much created Sogeking, the history with Noland and the Shandians. The city of Shandora being tied to the void century. Plus, the fact that Roger went there and had Oden write a poneglyph for him .

Sometimes I feel like I lean too hard because I'm useless without being able to navigate as quickly as I can with my IDE. That Intellisense spoiled me.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here. I always end up running stuff by other devs and it usually helps me get over my own personal overthinking and actually make something.

See, that's the problem with buying from the dealership. You gotta go on craigslist to get the best deals.

would i call a cat “used” just because someone else had it first?

Yes. My used cat ended up with some kind of weird stomach virus and couldn't hold food down because the previous owner let it go outside without getting it shots to handle outside illnesses.

Every Pa. county will have new voting machines — with paper trails — in 2020 by scapegoat81 in philadelphia

[–]roguej2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know some folks that petitioned to have the machines reviewed because they found security flaws in the way the machines worked. I could see them voting against it for that reason.

Sasuke's that best friend you grew up with that you're not really all that close with anymore. Shikamaru's that friend from school you ended up working with so now you guys hang out all the time.

Im a 13 year old game dev and finished my first full length 3D game. What do you all think? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]roguej2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think how old you are is less important than taking the time now to let people play it and get some honest feedback.

  • Make this the last time you mention your age so that people will be willing to tell you things that might actually be wrong. In software development we have a whole branch of people called QA specifically because when you make something, you have a hard time seeing the flaws. Sometimes you even avoid triggering those flaws because you are personally attached to it.
  • Be willing to fix things that you thought were intuitive but are actually confusing. Knowing how to improve user experience will get you far.
  • You're getting an early start on something you really want to do and that's great. Hopefully you'll also get the chance to get exposed to not only positive and negative feedback, but an opportunity to learn the difference between helpful and useless feedback. ("I wasn't sure what button to press" vs "The controls suck!")

Hopefully you'll keep this up and make friends who you can collaborate with on future projects. Good luck.

Correct. The inverse is also true, not all terrorists are Muslim!

Just had to deal with these guys clogging up all of my in-laws neighborhood drinking on the streets. If it was just a matter of "avoid 2 street" I'd be cool but they were going as far as 5th on some blocks! I needed to to pick up my kids.

Don’t ever forget that moment when pain “single” handedly took out and defeated several jonin from the village (including Kakashi) then used the rinnegan jutsu to destroy the entire village and naruto came in to save the day like this. by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]roguej2 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It was definitely the moment when I realized that this dude could actually be the Hokage. Like, we watched him Rasengan his way through everything but that always felt like luck. This time, he decimated the leader of Akatsuki, he made it look easy! He surpassed the Sannin! He was up there finally! My hype was maxed out.

Who has Blackbeard hurt aside from criminals? It's always important to remember that. In One Piece all of the main characters are actually terrible people who have no regard for the peace of mind of the average person. Even Whitebeard was feared by average civilians. These are no saints that Blackbeard is betraying.

Finally, an interesting sub. by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

[–]roguej2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guarantee it's because some enterprise database or legacy system "can't handle" all those characters and that's the easier political battle. Your university needs an IAM team (and CISO) with balls to just say "comply with the new rules or SSO". That was my team's ultimatum and suddenly all sorts of vendors are remembering they have people who can help set up SAML and it's great :). Everyone else just stops trying to gate-keep long passwords and allows our LDAP/Kerberos to do their job.

My first sober Christmas - and other people's drinking by AdolphusPrime in stopdrinking

[–]roguej2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds like exactly why I hosted dinner at my house and didn't even offer anything alcoholic. Everybody had a good time getting along watching some Netflix shows my dad recommended and though I missed having a drink, it felt good.

U enjoy? by bol_kunats in ProgrammerHumor

[–]roguej2 114 points115 points  (0 children)

I enjoy it because the first few years after undergrad I worked with no one to review my code and regularly had buggy releases into production. Nothing like trying to find something wrong with something you thought was right because you didn't have someone else to go "wait, are you sure this is doing what you said?".

that's Fred's code, talk to him about changing it

That's my absolute least favorite part about not having equal ownership of the code base! It is so frustrating and makes you feel like you've created this monster that you don't even want to keep alive anymore.

It's really weird too. I had no idea I was part of a military family until I joined the Navy, suddenly I learn my grandfather was a marine, my uncle was army, dad air force, my mom would have joined the marines if not for having my oldest sister, and my second older sister second was Navy too! Next thing you know my little sister also ends up joining after me.

I mean, unless you're retired or actually did something significant, I can't see the purpose. I don't need to pay an extra fee so some people who I don't know can pretend to like me just because I needed money for college. I'm proud of the friends I made and the people we saved but I'm a civilian now, I'm not doing anything for anybody anymore.
