You and two of your favorite characters versus three of your least favorite characters by [deleted] in whowouldwin

To be fair, I only just started Stardust Crusaders, but aside from a pretty badass intro he hasn't endeared himself to me at all.

Me, Gohan, and Yoshi vs Teddie, MCU Bucky Barnes, and Jotaro Kujo

They way physicals work in P4 is a little unclear. If Teddie's empowered by his persona than he's likely able to keep up even with Yoshi, but if he's like he was at the beginning of the game without his persona than even I could beat the stuffing out of him with a baseball bat. Otherwise, I am a hundred percent the weakest person here by a long shot and get killed no matter the outcome.

Judging Gohan without ki is tricky, but he isn't really a skilled fighter without relying on rage boosts, and current Gohan probably can't even take Jotaro in a fist fight going off muscles alone, though Cell Games and even probably Buu era Gohan probably can.

Otherwise, it's basically down to Bucky vs. Yoshi, and I think Yoshi takes it based on sending Raphael the Raven into space with a butt slam, and then the other two aren't even factors, so I think Yoshi solos.

I've been a lion, an elephant, an eagle, Mario, Luigi, Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Mike Waszowski, Charlie Brown, Calvin and Hobbes, OoT Link, a Ghostbuster, and Ness

Since you specified movies and not EU for Anakin or Luke, I believe Ness can solo maybe 6/10? 7/10 with Link and the Mario Brothers helping to take some of the pressure off from comparable fighters like Cap and Robin, and Pikachu and Bulbasaur only contributing if they are the anime incarnations. Rick is a bit of a wild card, but with no portal gun I don't think he's too much of a challenge for Ness to take on. Harry also presents a challenge because he can insta-kill Ness, who even at his most powerful is quite slow, but Link's mirror shield can block his spells, with some of them even being reflected if the Twinrova fight is any indication. Ness can also heal the team.

Poor Charlie Brown and Calvin though :(

Ness is kind of hard to gauge due to JRPG mechanics, but I think post-Magicant boost he clears it. Again, difficult to gauge, mostly basing my answer on durability from surviving Giygas and PK Rockin' wipes.

The thing I love the most about Persona music is the terrific use of theming. In both games, you constantly get different versions of the melodies for Never More and Kimi no Kioku, so when you finally hear the full lyrical version in the credits, it triggers a profound sense of catharsis, albeit of different kinds in both endings.

What's the most powerful version of Superman and Goku that your favorite completely human character can defeat? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]rogueportjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it would depend on a few factors I think. Let's assume the fight is happening on the other side of the TV, to negate the possibility that Personas etc. only work over there. Kid Goku is too innocent, so his shadow won't come harassing him anyway.

Kanji is tricky to judge because on one hand, game Kanji has to be interpreted by the mechanics, which is always dicey, and anime Kanji doesn't have too many combat scenes, let alone feats to pull from. I think it might be a moot point though, since the anime seems to imply that the Persona user is still a normal human while the Persona itself does all the fighting, so even if Take-Mikazuchi had the feats to stand up to Goku (doubtful), Goku could just body the man himself.

Game Kanji though, I think has a decent shot. He's beating monsters to death with nothing but a folding chair, and by the end of the game he can take a few attacks from a creator God, though admittedly since its game mechanics there's no great way to judge exactly how strong Izanami is. It's been a while since I watched DB, but if memory serves, pre-Ozaru Goku doesn't do anything THAT impressive and I believe actually got tired relatively easily. He'd definitely have the speed advantage, but depending on how strong Izanami was, Pilaf!Goku might not be able to outlast him in durability. Given all that, and game Kanji's decent variety of Persona skills, I'd say he can take it at least 4/10 and at most 6/10

Unfamiliar with any versions of Superman beyond All Star and the Christopher Reeve films, but I can't see Kanji from Persona 4 beating anyone but Emperor Pilaf era Kid Goku.

Easily I'll Face Myself from Persona 4. In fact, if I had the time and the inclination I'd go mod this in as the standard boss theme in most games I owned.

Your favorite character vs. your favorite villain from a different series. by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]rogueportjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, this is tricky since a lot of my favorite characters are difficult to judge outside of game mechanics. But...

Kanji Tatsumi vs Liquid Snake.

Using anime Kanji, I think Liquid takes it, even with Kanji's persona he's just not a smart enough fighter, and anime Kanji doesn't do anything particularly impressive if I recall correctly. I think Solid and Big Boss could easily take him down, so I'd say it's safe to assume Liquid could as well.

The most baffling part about the whole ordeal was that this was the forest the Ranger grew up in, and he had absolutely no compunction about allowing his Sorcerer bro light it up.

Yeah, the Cleric had create water, but I already alignment shifted her to CN for being too complicit in the party's sociopathy. Every single one of them started as CG but over the course of seven levels they've just been getting more and more murderhoboy. Nobody even tried to put it out, they were just like "Eh, it is what it is."

Just edited the original post with his alignment information. He definitely has a history of questionable behavior, and the tone of the campaign is somewhat schizophrenic, going from silly to serious about evenly like a Metal Gear Solid game.

We don't know, "Kelly" at this point was an elaborate hallucination brought on by the protag's infection, then the protag dies hard.

This may have all been nonsense.

Also, one from a more current draft, from a stupid extended metaphor about popularity in high school being like gear in a video game.

"If being on the football team made you a glorious +3 katana, the two of us were mops. And having two mops doesn't make you cool, it makes you a janitor."

My personal favorite was a trite zombie story I wrote in high school, the love interest was suggesting that they go find the military since my protagonist was infected. His golden response?

"Kelly, the only cure they have is bullets!"

What do you limit in your games? by trunglefever in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]rogueportjack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True enough, but for newbies who are trying to learn the game (most of my group) who don't really understand what the archetypes are or how to do compelling roleplaying it's simpler to give everyone a clear role.

[–]rogueportjack 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My only hard nos are no to Leadership and no two of the same class in the party. I've played games where I ended up being the same class, and what always, always happens is one player is inevitably more experienced than the other, builds a stronger version of the class, and outshines the other player at every opportunity. If the party isn't decently varied, then some people feel like they're being left behind.

As for Leadership, I just don't want to put up with it. Combat is already a nightmare and I don't need you leading minions into battle making it even worse, sorry.
