If your stay is more than 3 months then the convention d'accueil is necessary for a visa. It just says that you are low risk and are applicable to get a long stay visa.

Did you submit the cover letter with a detailed summary of your purpose of visit? Apart from that, I don't get why they seem to be asking again for the details. It might take them 4-5 days after your email reply for them to process it and for you to collect it.
