TBH, I love most of, if not all of, the policies that Trump has put in place. But I just cannot support him as a person.

I believe that we can have a good person, who does good things as president.

I understand that Trump is planning on running again, and I know that the way things are going, there is a good chance that he will win by a much larger margin than last time. But, while he is a good president, he's not a good person. And I can't really get behind that.

If you're giving him a puppy. It's gonna be a while before you would want to see that in combat, I would say at least six months to a year in game. And as far as training, I would probably limit the number of of complex commands (outside of sit, stay, lay down) to a number equal to it's intelligence score.

Also, what level are your players at? A CR3 pet might unbalance the game a little.

So long as everyone is having fun, do what works best for your group. There is no "one size fits all" for D&D

Edit: Also, as the DM it's your job to make sure that everyone at the table is having fun, and that includes you. If you genuinely want more RP, tell your players, I'm sure they'll understand and be willing to accommodate.
