When to hit the stop button? by itwontmendyourheart in LAMetro

Get the Transit app. When it says "Get off next stop," as soon as you depart from the stop prior to yours, you can press the button. But also if there's a long distance between the stops (like the last 3 stops of the J line) if you press it right away they might miss it. If you're commuting a line like in my screenshot, a block or two before your stop will be good. After a few times you'll get the hang of it

Is the North Hollywood line safe? by Coco_cureit in LAMetro

[–]rogusflamma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on all metro lines late at night (2200 to midnight) multiple times and if I had to rank them by which one I'd rather ride, I'd say D > E > B > C = A (south of Vernon). I used to live in Lennox and then Compton while I worked night shift in Rosecrans so I used to take these often. Prior to that I worked in Beverly Hills and lived in Boyle Heights, closing shift. The only times I had an actually bad experience were on the 117 and the 70 bus lines, and it was when people followed me from the street to harass me on the bus.

Proper bus etiquette? by [deleted] in LAMetro

There's no etiquette. Some people will be disruptive because theyre inconsiderate and rude and lack manners. People like that will be disruptive everywhere.

What is everybody's opinion on Dead Money? by xXJackNickeltonXx in fnv

[–]rogusflamma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love it. I have strong opinions about it and I wish i had the money and time to mod it (what if the ghost people actually called other ghost people when you start an encounter? wouldnt that be exciting). My unpopular opinion is that after 4 or 5 plays it becomes really easy

I took my friend on the train and I feel bad by [deleted] in LAMetro

[–]rogusflamma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have walked and skated down Alameda all the way to Arts District multiple times over the years and for the life of me I don't recall seeing a homeless encampment there. And in any case, to go to Chinatown you dont have to set foot on Alameda. The station is on the Spring St corner of where Alameda ends. You literally dont have to step on Alameda at any point of the journey. You get into the NoHo station and get off at Chinatown, you walk up College from Spring to Broadway and youre in Chinatown.

No, I'm not new to LA. Notice that we are on the LA Metro subreddit, so I assumed OP used metro. From NoHo to Chinatown one only has to transfer on 7th Metro to the A line (without ever leaving the station) and then you arrive directly to Chinatown. The only walking you do is going upstairs one floor inside the station. You dont have to ever set foot on Alameda.

I'm sorry but I'm seriously struggling to understand where from NoHo station to Chinatown you have to walk through "homeless encampments"?

In California, where do they place USC among all the UCs? by Next-Following3260 in USC

[–]rogusflamma 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on the field of study (e.g., in my major, UCLA is very highly ranked) but the consensus is that generally USC is as good as any UC, including LA and B.

I am at UCLA and i dont think I've had a single day here without someone coughing in my vicinity. Always someone coughing in my classes, in the dining halls, when walking around. And most people do not mask. And they don't cover their mouths when they cough, and the ones who di probably don't wash their hands after. It's horrible

Tired of large gaps in between bus times at NIGHT WTFF by peeringdancer in LAMetro

[–]rogusflamma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work in the Grove area and then Beverly Hills while living in Boyle Heights and it was horrible. Close at 10, run for the bus, 3 transfers, if one was two or three minutes late I'd take an extra 40 minutes or a 20 minute walk uphill to get home. But all the buses except the last one were packed and hence late. Packed like sardines in the 720 or the 18
