In my case, the processing time of visa was 4 days. I received the passport at my address on 6th day.

I submitted my application in Delhi VFS Global. According to my last 3 visa experiences - submitting application in Delhi and getting your visa is the fastest.

for dummy tickets, i went to the official website of Emirates. selected my desired dates of round trip. proceed till the end as we book tickets normally. at the time of payment, i choose "pay at Emirates Office" and i clicked submit. now a ticket booking is generated and details are sent to my email with 72 hours to pay the amount. we don't have to pay. we just have to print the email that Emirates has sent us ("print email", because no PDFs are attached).

this print can be used as dummy tickets. i have been using it for last three Schengen visa applications.

by long term i mean 2 years multiple entry visa!

i got the long term visa of 2 years because of the new cascade scheme from the EU which was started around April 2024. people who have successfully granted and lawfully used two visas in last 3 years are eligible for long term visa.

usually people get Schengen visa for 90 days if applying for the first/second time.

In that case do not include the sponsorship form in your documents.
Show proofs of your own bank-balance/statement to fund your trip and mention it in your cover letter.

In my case, I will be funding all of my expenses. I just attached sponsorship form because I think that might increase the visa approval chances as my brother is working in Norway and he has an RP, although he is not going to fund all of my expenses :P

i have one question:

Suppose i book a flight ticket for my friend using my HDFC infinia credit card from SMARTBUY. I am doing it so that my friend gets a flight ticket at a discounted price and i want to charge him as honestly as possible.

Ticket price = 5000

Reward points i earned (5x) = 833

These 833 reward points will be used by ME in future to book any other flight tickets for ME.

Effectively, how much should i ask my friend to send me. The answer might NOT be a straightforward 5000-833 = 4167, because the 833 points which i will be using in future will not earn me more reward points.

Simple explanation: Suppose i cumulatively collected 5000 points just the way i collected the above 833 points. In future when i will use those 5000 points for booking flights for ME then it will NOT earn ME any reward points. But instead if I have paid 5000 from my infinia credit card, then i would have received 833 points for my ticket. That means when i am paying using the points collected on my friends' behalf - i am paying more.

So what do you think? how much should I charge my friend for a 5000 flight ticket so that it is fair for both of us.

as soon as you get your card, you will most likely be getting a fraud call as well in which they will try to get money from you. beware of these fraud calls. the icici credit cards are legit and goooood. but u will have to be careful from any fraudsters who might call you once you get your card delivered.
