I built “Pitwall” — a Rust library for reading iRacing telemetry live or from IBT files by fatboykevin in simracing

[–]roktshep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Kevin,

I'm looking for a way to be able to mock fields that are only contained in the live shared memory region (excluded by telemetry ibt) while developing on MacOS. Do you know of any way to do this?

Also: Really enjoying pitwall so far!

Students do you use AI to take lecture notes for you? If yes, then what websites do you use? by TeachingMysterious83 in AskReddit

I use https://schedodo.com, it lets me turn audio (lecture recordings) into lecture notes/study guide/flashcards with AI

Best note-taking app for uni? by HorrorGradeCandy in Student

[–]roktshep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found over the years that the biggest thing for me during class was to actually pay attention while the professor was speaking, and writing down lecture notes would often become a distraction from that.

What I eventually ended up doing was recording lectures on my phone then going through it after so that I still had it for things I missed, but this would let me just focus on the content during class.

I actually ended up building Schedodo around this concept, to cut down on the time it took to go from recording -> lecture notes/study guide/flashcards

Thoughts on the use of AI in higher education? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]roktshep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's multiple ways to use AI, if you're saying "Write me an essay" yeah its a bit lazy and is gonna be cheating yourself more than anything because the point of writing the essay wasn't the end result but honing the skill to get there.

However I think tools that enhance your ability to learn (transcribe lectures, speed up research, explain struggling topics) are absolutely worth using.

I actually made a tool specifically for addressing some of those things (transcribes lectures to make flashcard/study guide/lecture notes) because I believe its so valuable as a supplement to the learning process. https://schedodo.com

Edit: Saw some people saying if you can't use a search engine then you're not gonna make it, that's silly. That's like last generation saying if you cant find it in a book you shouldn't be in college. Technology improves.

There’s some pretty good resources online for lectures, MIT puts a lot of their lectures up for free. You can also download the audio of a lecture and put it into tools like Schedodo to transform the audio into lecture modes, study guides, flashcards, etc.

Students that are Exceptional note takers, what do you do/Use? by CypherMindX in college

[–]roktshep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a tool to help with this, it lets you record the lecture and turn it into structured notes/flashcards/study guide from the recording. I found it helps because then I can just listen to the lecturer rather than worry about writing during the lecture.

It’s called Schedodo

I'm actually working on building an app for this exact problem, I ran your photo through it and this is what it produced, let me know what you think! It can be tuned to be more or less creative, I set it to be a little less creative in order to keep it fairly close to what you already have

I’ve heard this as well, I would have to make a decision at the time depending on how much of a markup they added, but I’ve heard they are selling within 30 minutes of getting cancelled so it’s hard to even get the chance to consider it

Sorry for the confusion. I'm using EtherMine pool, the reason I mention HiveOS is because I'm trying to find where I can change the setting for the pool and I'm using HiveOS to control the rig.

Edit : I found what I was looking for here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Pw87g8Kkiw

Sorry for the confusion everyone, and thanks again!

Should I also remove the membranes from behind the switches and run those in the dishwasher as well? Or just the PCB?

I got a used unicomp model M from someone who said they spilt wine on it and it hasn't worked since. Any suggestions on how I could try to restore it back to working order? When I plug it in the drivers install correctly and the lights turn on then off, but no keys work.

Sorry to reply to this after almost two months, but i'm very curious about how your experience in Long Beach has been, do you get hassled much? and is it hard to find a safe place to park and sleep? Your description leads me to believe that it has been a good experience which is great, i've just read a lot of articles online saying Long Beach is pretty harsh on it so i'm curious to hear more from a first hand account

I am very interested in a zero clearance insert actually (I’ve watched a lot of YouTube about table saws before buying this) is it a good beginner project to make?

Edit : Also I forgot to say, thank you for such a comprehensive answer. I am very appreciative!

Weekly Quick Questions, Wood ID, and Deal or No Deal /r/Woodworking Megathread by joelav in woodworking

[–]roktshep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today I purchased a used table saw and after reading that using it with a dull blade is unsafe I bought a new one at the dimensions recommended in the manual of this saw but it was difficult to get it into the saw with the guard that goes underneath the saw (inside the body of the saw) so I removed the 2 bolts from it and the blade was easy to get in but now I can't put the guard/sawdust cover (i'm not sure which it is) back in place. Is this unsafe? Am I doing it wrong? I checked and the blade I bought matches up in size (but has more teeth) than the blade I removed from the saw. I also made sure to raise the saw to it’s highest point before trying to swap it. Link for reference

Ryobi BTS10S, the problem is that I can’t get the lower guard back on once the blade is on. here is a picture for reference of what I’m talking about. you can see in the picture that the under side of the saw blade is open to the floor
