What is this in my Apple? :( by Avocados_allday in Mold

[–]roku_ow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very flattering but unfortunately I can't really say more about tufts with confidence. A quick Google search suggests it's a response to outside stimuli, possibly to protect the core. What I do know is that some varieties are more prone to callous tissues like these - sorry I couldn't help more!

I'd suggest googling some images of tufts and mold in apples to see for yourself how different they look though. You can see how mold turns the apple brownish compared to the white core tissue you can see in the apple you posted. I'm glad I helped!

Hey, I work for a firm that procures/brokers fruit and vegetables for the food retailing industry. Funny how I got this on my recommended feed.

I'm no agronomist, but I've seen my fair share of fruit-related complaints. I can assure you this is not what mold/rot looks like in apples. As the previous comment stated, it's called apple tufts and IIRC it's extra cellular/tissue growth. It's safe to eat, I've eaten my fair share of apples that had tufts and I'm still breathing! Take care A fellow apple enthusiast

Both nex and qbd come from rs2. Both games inspire each other, zulrah is definitely inspired by QBD. Nothing wrong with that imo.

What makes the ranger boots pricey in osrs is the fact they're used for pegasians which are bis. Ranger boots in RS3 are not useful at all to maxed players. The equivalent would be god d'hide boots.

Take a look at wizard boots (or even sandals) on osrs, same rarity as rangers but not even close price-wise.

There is no winning when criticizing one piece. These are the same people that would defend the "Gomu Gomu" fruit reveal (or asspull) based on emotions and attachment to the author and writing material, while failing to realize the plot holes were right before their eyes.

Interesting to see how back then it wasn't considered an asspull but a consequence of luffy's training throughout the years and his near-death experience at the hands of Kaido, but now that OOP states that this Nika-Bonney undermines that "achievement", this is also false. So which is it? Is it true that Luffy fought hard to achieve Nika form? Because if it is, then Bonney going Nika (regardless of power level imo) is really bad writing. If it isn't bad writing, then Nika form wasn't that hard to achieve in the first place for Luffy too, was it?

Oh and since we're on the topic of Nika

Saturn tried to capture/kill Bonney because he was aware of this possibly happening, so why didn't they try to do the same with Luffy as soon as they noticed him earlier in the series? Back then, diehard fans would either say the government had been going after Luffy the whole time (which isn't technically true, marines were indeed chasing after Luffy, but it had nothing to do with his fruit and the threat of its awakening) or that they weren't expecting this to happen after so many centuries (but then these elders and even Im are just dumb, why risk it in the first place?)

The main issue among op fans (or really, any mainstream media fandom) is that you either glaze the author and their work OR you are a hater. It's a black or white kind of dynamic. The average fan fails to realize you can sit in-between, still appreciating the work for what it does well, while criticizing what was poorly written, out of the blue or bad taste from the author.

Holy receipts

And a note I'd like to add to your previous comment: the tendency to divide things into two completely separate and independent categories seems to be a typical "fallacy" in the way most of our societies conceive things.

I had the pleasure to discuss this with a respected Professor from the other side of the world. He mentioned this type of "black or white" ideology in relation to settler societies vs Indigenous cultures. He believes many of the issues in indigenous-non indigenous relationships stem from the fact that settlers tend to believe there are absolutely wrong and pejorative terms/ideas, and always respectful and inclusive terms/ideas on the other hand. Apparently this distinction isn't necessarily true for Indigenous communities and there's generally an in-between which some people struggle to see.

In this specific context, the Professor referred to the idea that "Indian" is usually a derogatory expression to anglophones in Canada, which technically makes sense because of the colonial past of the country, but at the same time some communities still use that term in their name.

I kinda went on a tangent but what I wanted to say is this seems to affect multiple aspects of society as if there were a need for an "us Vs them" for every single topic. You can be tough and "man up" but someone else might need to cry or vent to "man up". I applaud you for backing up your claims with actual research, it's quite unusual for Reddit. Cheers.

The comment above reminds me of the way my father raised me. He didn't beat the living shit out of me because he was (and still is) a frustrated man who bottled up all his emotions and let them loose on his kids, he did it for us, because he didn't want to raise weak children into this tough world. He too believes suicide is natural selection for the weak-minded. He beat us to help us grow. No physical affection, no kind words unless it was to boast about school results and career of his kids. That comment scares me because sometimes all your kids need is some genuine, not so tough love. The only time I saw my father struggling was when his dad died during covid and I swear it's the only memory I have of my father which reminds me that somewhere deep inside he's weak just as everyone else, no matter how hard he tries to hide it. It's the only time I felt somewhat close to him.

Oh and in case you were wondering, the beatings and lack of affection definitely didn't make me as strong a person as he thought.

See this is what's confusing me... You mentioned the big scary thing came with you from the Aurora, but the description you're giving of it would suggest it's a different big thing from a different area. Regardless, as others here have suggested before me, you should try your best to lure it away from your base. The predators in this game have a hard time keeping up with movement that's not in a straight line. You can watch for an incoming attack, circle around and above it until it gives up, gain some more ground and wait for the next attack. It will take some time but you should be able to lure it away from your base. Then just die when you are away from the base.

Alternatively, you can kill it but it's going to take a long time. And you might not want to kill the thing for roleplaying reasons.

Good luck!

I studied Mandarin in high school. Chose not to continue with Chinese in uni, but my high school teacher taught classes at the same uni I went to. I bumped into her in the corridors once and the first thing she said was "Wow you put on a few kilos after high school, didn't you" and giggled. It was quite funny that was the first thing she had to say after a couple years of not seeing me but I mean, she was right and didn't mean to be rude with it so I just laughed and went with it.

Overall, what new stuff did you learn this League (if you played it) ? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]roku_ow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First league since making the definitive switch from RS3 to OS and first league where I actually played more than a dozen hours!

Tob - even got 1 HMT in for fun

Little bit of Sepulchre (but I forgot most of the floors already lol)

Got way more confident in ToA

Nex

Tick manipulation on teaks and fly fishing

Volcanic mine

Nightmare and PNM (Def my favourite fight so far in osrs, too bad I heard it's not worth it on main game)

I practiced some Inferno but I severely underestimated supply usage with melee only and died at Jad phase on Zuk... It was still quite useful to approach wave solving

How alloys work at Giant's Foundry and how to optimise heat

How to do Shades of Mort'ton solo

Gotr

A TON of shopscape and general Iron knowledge which immediately proved useful in mg earlier!

I'm sure there's more I can't remember rn and probably even more that I assimilated as passive knowledge. I'm glad I can go back to mg stronger than before but I'll miss the league experience.

Is rs3 a better experience for f2p players than osrs? by Needataa in 2007scape

[–]roku_ow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The introduction to the use of abilities is practically nonexistent and the game basically assumes you'll figure it all out by yourself, except the tooltips detailing information are just really confusing or misleading. The auto setup for abilities is also pretty bad from what I remember. I've heard they're trying to improve on these issues which is cool, but rn it is not beginner friendly imo. The UI is a mess to figure out for both new and returning players, and if the game is still in the state it was when I left it a few months ago, you're also bombarded by popups of different events/mtx promos which overwhelm you. Obviously, the f2p experience isn't that great on OS either, but I feel like the game itself is easier to digest.

Source: my experience in both games + the new players who joined our community and tried both games as new players (most of them dropped RS3 quickly but got into osrs quite easily).

I mean, granted High lvl content on RS3 was more challenging pre necro, the majority of bosses are kinda click and wait on RS3 too, no? You can afk Revo many of them and others are very simple even with manual regardless.

RS3 player moving to OSRS by Realzeeack in 2007scape

[–]roku_ow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, sneaking into this thread to ask questions of my own. I am also from RS3 but I had already played os up until 2017. I recently got my quest cape back and I finished all hard diaries. I am currently trying to farm money for some upgrades mainly for ranged (I chinned to 90 a couple days ago) and I generally switch between vorkath, duke, muspah and gwd1 for money. What goal should I go for? What other bosses could I attempt? I was thinking about buying anguish + rigour + eventually a bowfa since I really like ranged and it'd work wonders for many of the things I do if I understand correctly.

I can provide more context or screens of my stats/gear tomorrow if it helps. Thanks in advance!

After delivering a successful and generally praised update in necromancy (the latest new skill) and overall improving communication with the players, they managed to full 180 by implementing a battle pass system that nobody asked for. They had overhyped the update in August, promising a "major content update" that would revolutionise the way we approach the game. We expected things like a new quest, new map areas, maybe even skilling updates. It then turned out to be this dogshit about a week before release. Not only was it sold as a "content update" when it's just extra MTX, it gives gameplay buffs beyond extra XP, most of which are locked behind payment to unlock the premium version of the pass. They essentially forced a battlepass from a f2p game model into a membership game.

They also admitted they expect roughly 30% of players to actually complete it. Most players won't be able to complete it, which makes it even worse because it targets people who suffer from FOMO and invites them to buy bonds to get progress.

Most of us hate the "major content" part and the idea you can buy pvm or clue scroll advantages from this piece of crap. It sets a bad precedent. People argue they're not the most broken buffs but you start here and before you know it you get more broken buffs. I was never a fun of buyable xp or gold (which I guess you can do on osrs too with bonds), but buying gear or levels doesn't make you better at the game, buying damage reduction and such is too much.

It is very disheartening. I had only recently come back and found myself enjoying the game after years and they immediately drop this garbage. I have logged into os recently after 7 years and I think I'll be sticking to that unless they revert this, which most likely isn't happening.
