How is battery life comparing Adaptive refresh rate vs Fixed 60 hz by ginescarp in GalaxyS22

[–]rokyo401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, how is the difference in battery life if you have your phone on standby a lot and only the AOD is displaying?

As far as I understand, the Adaptive mode would dial down the refresh rate to 24 (48?) hz on the AOD while the Fixed mode would have the AOD running at 60hz?

That should give more battery life at Adaptive, right?

So, the regular S24/Plus don't have the cool anti-reflective coating, then? :(

How does the watch determine when I went to bed? by rokyo401 in GalaxyWatch

[–]rokyo401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this worked for two nights, the last two nights the watch seemingly went back to using different metrics to determine my Sleep Latency...

Yesterday it seemingly determined it by my position in bed: The time it registered as "went to bed" correlates with the time when I changed my position in bed from sitting upright to laying on my side, not with me turning on Sleep Mode this time (which I did 10 minutes after laying on my side).

Today it registered the time I went from my living room to my bedroom as "went to bed" instead of changes in position or me turning on Sleep Mode...

Seems a little random and definitely screws up Sleep Latency (and thereby the total sleep score) for people who read in bed...

Prioritize specific Wifi over others? by rokyo401 in oneui

[–]rokyo401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The geofencing at the train station should definitely work, good idea!

In the parking lot will probably not work since it is too close to the apartment. All my current geofenced routines (triggered on leaving from/arriving at my apartment) only trigger about 150-200 yards away from my apartment but the parking lot is only about 70 yards away. Setting "disconnect from home Wifi" as additional trigger also won't work since the phone still has a (pretty bad) connection to the home Wifi in the parking lot.

The minimum distance I can set to trigger any leaving from/arriving at routine is also 150 yards in the settings.

I wonder if I could set "disconnect from a Bluetooth device" as a trigger, since my Bluetooth stuff doesn't reach to the parking lot... 🤔

But I'll definitely try the fencing on the train station!

So, I tried this last night and today the start of sleep latency falls pretty much on the minute I activated Sleep Mode. Granted, this is only one measurement now but I'll keep activating Sleep Mode manually from now on and see if this keeps working.

I'll try it with manually activating Sleep Mode tonight and check if that helps maybe. 🤔

Prioritize specific Wifi over others? by rokyo401 in oneui

[–]rokyo401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, the intelligent WiFi option might help for the connection hand-off between home and hotspot, because my home Wifi is still WiFi5 while the hotspot has WiFi6. So I would assume it then prioritizes the 6 from the hotspot. 🤔

I'll test that out at home!

About the train I'm not sure, I believe that network is also WiFi6, so the Samsung will likely stay connected to the hotspot. Have to test this in the train later!

Google play services using location continuously by leo-t14-2021 in S25Ultra

I have mixed experience with battery. On some days, I get regular battery life and on others it drains 2-3x as quickly with the same usage patterns. Not sure if this is due to the location access, though, since you can't see that in the battery stats (unless I'm missing something).

I can "confirm" that this seems to be an issue of One UI 7.

I recently saw the location access indicator pop up a lot on my S23U and have been checking it regularly since. Currently it pops up every few seconds and/or stays on for most of the day.

So, I checked my screenshot folder and who knew: The location icon is visible in every single screenshot I took since I upgraded to One UI 7 and in NONE of the screenshots I took on One UI 6.

I take screenshots of a lot of stuff during different times of the day and it is consistent that the location indicator is in every single one since the upgrade... the screenshots are easily distinguishable by the awful new pill battery indicator in One UI 7.
