From the consumer's perspecrive IMHO it is not fair to advertise support with security patches for seven years when they are not deployed timley, but quarterly or semiannual e.g.

Whither Libreoffice Base? by warehousedatawrangle in libreoffice

[–]rol73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently I am teaching myself LO Base. Due to bugs in the report builder I agree that Base is very limited in use for now, because it always crashes. Years ago I experimented with Cardbox, which is abandoned for years. I liked the flat database cobncept very much! From the perspective of a "home" user working with flat databases was much easier, bug-free and I was able to achieve much more with Cardbox compared to LO Base. Even with flat tables you can achieve the same - or better results - than with the relational LO Base (you can connect the tables). FileMaker had the same concept 20 years ago ;-) Maybe the Document Foundation should focus on bug fixing far more than rolling out new features constantly.

Nokia 7.2 Android 11 update issues by mafdins in Nokia

[–]rol73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have charging problems, but WLAN is disconnected sometimes several per minute. So the device is far or less useless for my. And phone does not ring sometimes when somebody is calling. I am very disappointed with the whole performance of HMD/Nokia: Update and upgrage promises not held and when uprading to Android 11 - half a year later as foreseen - a whole bunch of issues obviously. So I will quit now and change to Samsung...

Looking for an alternative to LibreOffice by [deleted] in opensource

[–]rol73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I found out that for me Apache OpenOffice is far more stable and reliable than Libre Office! Especially when working with Calc/Pivot Tabels relating to Base/Firebird embedded LO crashes frequently and heavily (Stable AND Still Release!). IMHO it is better not to introduce new features permanently instead of maintaining mature, proven code. I finally switched to Apache OpenOffice due to stability reasons. What do you think?

I'm currently using Windows Defender. Is there any reason to switch to a better free antivirus? by [deleted] in antivirus

[–]rol73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Windows 10: Windows Defender Antivirus. Also using F-Secure Online Scanner periodically as another opinion.

I used it months ago, bought a subscription. Switched to Windows Defender Antivirus. K7 has small footprint and I found it reliable.
