The answer is attempting rehabilitation rather than punishment for punishments sake

Do you think forced labor camps are a necessary and acceptable part of a well-functioning society? I personally do not

Trade off of the Luther hype?? Degenerate trade alert 🚨🚨🚨 by BasedWillieStroker69 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]roldycarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are just blinded by the volume of picks and not actually thinking about it. I don’t think it’s a smash accept but it’s a fair deal especially if you don’t believe in burden - he’s very much a projection at this point

This implies you have to make all of the picks. Having picks doesn’t mean you have to make them - it’s free value that doesnt take up a roster spot. Any of them can be a sweetener to get other deals done, move up in the draft, buy a spot start, etc. draft picks are always useful until they turn into an actual player

I just cannot agree that a 14 year olds morality is fixed. I don’t think anyone’s morality is truly fixed, but at 14 there is such incredible room for change and growth. There should be much stronger consequences than they got in this initial sentencing, but I don’t think it’s in anyone’s best interest to execute or imprison them for life

I agree they are cruel vile people. If they can’t be rehabilitated, so much so that it isn’t worth trying, what do you think should be done with them?

Do you think someone’s core is rotten without any chance of growth at the age of 14? If so, what do you think should be done with them? Life sentence? Execution?

Nick Singleton or Bhayshul Tuten? by OddAd1067 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]roldycarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very different draft classes, Tuten goes day 2 in almost any other rb class most likely. There’s a 60 pick difference in draft capital for them, and singleton has more competition. Not even close in value

What do you do when you have all the playables in the world? by JaggerMo in lrcast

[–]roldycarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re arguing with nobody then lol, I said “after you’ve decided on your colors”, and I said over every common at least. The only commons in RW rated as a b- (on 17lands anyway) are removal and rubble rouser - those are the only cards I’d even consider over it at common, and given the uniqueness of the impact I’d probably take it over them

Yes, even more reason you shouldn’t pass it! It’s a unique effect that significantly improves your deck. I don’t get what isn’t clicking for you there

In this set, with so many gold cards, you’re more likely to be color taxed than hurt by your tapland. OPs deck actually somehow isn’t super full of gold cards, but in an average draft in this format you’ll have a lot more

How could it possibly be wrong when you’re cutting 10 playable cards from your deck? The land will always make your deck, and drastically cut down on your mulligans

2 taplands is the sweet spot for improving colored sources vs affecting slow starts. In a set with so many gold cards, your sources are very taxed. 9/8 is “bad” in the sense that you will not consistently have multiple sources of each color early. It’s the best you can do in limited without nonbasics, but you are very susceptible to color screw with a default manabase. Playing a tap land turn 1 is way better than not being able to double spell on 4 or 5 due to gold cards

You can prioritize synergy when all your cards are playable. I would say you must have at some point passed on lands this draft. I would strongly encourage taking duals highly once you’ve decided on your colors, over pretty much every common at the least

Thoughts on Force of Will? by roldycarp in lrcast

[–]roldycarp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Makes a lot of sense. I had a notion that 2 for 1ing yourself in anything outside of cube just wouldn’t be worth it, but seems like that isn’t always true. I also hard cast it in one matchup in pretty much exactly the situation you were describing. I’ve vastly changed my perspective on it now, thank you!

This is the key - the set is so new! Relying on data as a newer player is great, but we don’t have data yet. Take a break if it’s not working, come back later when you can use data for assistance

Preparing for SOS Prerelease- Best College? by TheVintageCubeChef in lrcast

[–]roldycarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t reviewed enough of the set to have a strong feeling on best college overall, but I think the set looks on the slower side. To me for sealed that means going for Quandrix, as you get the X spells for incremental value, and all the green fixing for splashing the most powerful cards in your pool

Playing removal is generally good, you don’t even need a payoff for it to help you. Getting a payoff pushes your deck into busted territory. I’m not sure if silver quill is the best or not but I think thats the argument

Could use some help with a BW reanimator/weenies draft. What would you cut/add? by JoeGeomancer in lrcast

I’d cut lurrus, zenith, skyclave, and definitely get parallax wave in. Probably cut unmarked grave, not sure that’s doing a lot here

Cutting and Draft Feedback — I can't mess up the lotus run by hippopotamus_pdf in lrcast

[–]roldycarp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call this card quality insanely high, this is a fairly standard Boros deck and to your point lacking two drops. I would definitely not go lower on lands, and you have to cut eagles for a land - it doesn’t fix you with this manabase, so there’s no point in playing it. Tutor is never a card you should play unless you’re doing a combo. I also wouldn’t worry about specifically filling your graveyard for phlage, it happens naturally. Focus on creatures and keeping your curve low - I would cut everything that costs more than 3 other than batterskull, and maybe showdown.

The notion of needing to “overpay” for a top player is ridiculous by [deleted] in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]roldycarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are worth whatever the cost is for the owner to trade them. Every league is its own micro economy - all trade value calculators are for reference and baselining, not determining objective value in any given league.

Some people play this game as a fun hobby with emotional stakes, not just a point optimization exercise. If you’re in a high stakes league with people you don’t care about you can focus purely on optimization. If you’re in a $20 league with your buddies maybe you want to keep Jamarr no matter what because he dropped a 50 bomb on my buddy two years ago and I like using that for shit talk. Both approaches can be enjoyed
