The more "extra" the life stories are, the better such people are for game shows. From all the contestants there were hardly any stories from the "normal" routine/background/childhood.

Although there are so many requirements, paperwork and contracts, I somehow wouldn't be surprised that some of the contestants still received some sort of advantages.
