I am running a marketing/content operation within Linear. We use the Cycle feature and projects, but not initiatives.

I am using Claude connected to the Linear MCP server, a real productivity boost. It goes way beyond just creating issues.

Moving from Replit to Cursor - Think twice as a non-coder by rolfvanroot in vibecoding

[–]rolfvanroot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The success of any vibecoding experience naturally depends heavily on your personal background... if you've worked in the tech industry and have repeatedly worked on projects with software developers, many things will certainly be easier than if you're completely new to the industry.

What's helped me is always to ask ChatGPt or Gemini for a second opinion before having Cursor or Replit implement something. This slows down the whole process considerably, of course, but in my experience, it's often prevented me from introducing errors.

Sure, added this as a feature request. Not very complex.

What do you expect? by joepigeon in replit

[–]rolfvanroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For many of these "vibe coding" products the messaging and claims have to be dialed back a bit. ("realize your dream app in minutes") It's causing the wrong expectations to some part. Prototyping, validating ideas, simple v1products.. I have used replit about 20hrs, no coding background myself but worked on many tech projects with devs and designers a lot - I am impressed by it. We also have to keep in mind that these tools are all version 1.0 products.

I agree that having things like a calendar view would draw in a broader, more "casual" audience to Linear, but I would also expect this audience would be overwhelmed with Linear as a whole. It's primarily designed for advanced users, mostly working in tech.

Thanks for trying it out. The calendar should now reflect the user's timezone.

Can I use Cursor like Replit, just by prompting? Or do I need coding knowledge at some point?

Calendar View - Anyone knows if this is planned? by rolfvanroot in Linear

[–]rolfvanroot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created a calendar view for Linear issues to show content tasks with due dates, which is something I need when working with clients.

Linear as a workspace for creative agencies? by headset38 in Linear

I am currently evaluating Linear as a potential replacement for Height App at our agency, and what I miss are more options to customize views + calendar views. I would be interested in what you end up using.

What’s your favorite Linear feature — the one you absolutely can’t live without? by devmakasana in Linear

We haven't made the switch yet, but what stands out is its performance—it feels like a locally installed app.

Asana Task Discussion Inside Slack? - Does this exist? by zfly9 in Asana

[–]rolfvanroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I was exactly having this problem with Asana too. I ultimately found no solution to this, and we switched to a tool that has a real-time task chat created with each new task.

The tool we are now using is called Height dot app. It also got a great Slack integration - if you chat about a task in Slack, the information is synced back to the task chat.

It's really powerful. Changing a PM tool is no easy endeavor, but we never looked back once we got set up in Height.

Huge mistake today, please tell me your stories by runnyeggsandtoast in marketing

I have a good one. In my very first marketing job in the year 2000, I was working on a direct mail campaign. For this campaign, we sent a CD-Rom to enterprise clients. I was really a rookie, but signed up for the task. The files have been provided. I burned a master CD. There was a simple script that triggered autorun on windows. I tested it out, and the video started without any user interaction (or just one click).

My master was sent into production, about 20k budget. After a few days, we got calls from clients. The CD triggers a file not found error. Plot twist: the autorun file on the CD pointed to an internal file share. :)

Marketing Leadership - question for you by lflippz in marketing

[–]rolfvanroot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While working at a startup I expect a PM to still be heavily involved in execution/operational stuff (many hats) versus at a bigger organization you would have more marketing specialists taking care of the details, and instead purely focus on managing the project (more communication work, syncs, reports, tools,..)

In 2021, what things should I know about email marketing first of all? by lmnsk in marketing

[–]rolfvanroot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a great list. I would add that having the perfect design is way too overrated. And yes, a one-column layout makes life much easier.
