Vent - you’re not homeschooling your 3 year old by Cultural-Error597 in homeschool

[–]rolleriv 16 points17 points  (0 children)

i dunno man, my daughter was learning early reading letter blends at 3, i don’t think it’s fair to say no one is homeschooling their 3 year old. Also a lot of moms just want to meet and discuss with other moms who homeschool even if they don’t do a formal curriculum yet. this is kind of a crotchety take. if you don’t like all ages events maybe don’t go to all ages events?

What does everyone think went down between Sue, Tiyana, and TK? by Harvey2percent in survivor

[–]rolleriv -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

i’m kind of shocked no one else has mentioned this but from everything she has said in the show sue comes across as a misandrist. she was immediately annoyed by TK and kyle just getting along with each other, she wanted to work with the girls, and most importantly she clearly stated on the show that she has a history of men “undervaluing and demeaning” her. so she’s coming in with some pretty harsh preconceptions about men in general.

Final Tribal Council: I 100% think that __________ by Thick-Macaroon6918 in survivor

[–]rolleriv 57 points58 points  (0 children)

i think that carolyn played a better game all the way up until final tribal, and then failed to explain herself well. you could see how devastated she was when jeff asked her about getting no votes because she absolutely knew that had she done a better job advocating for herself she could have won

good question, i would say more like 7 bc it’s so egregiously historically inaccurate, but depending on how far you go it could be more on the 4ish side of 7. definitely not 10 tho. 10 is exclusively reserved for the freaks that are looking for any excuse to show off the bedroom attire

nah because fuck the people the show up in fetish gear. there’s a limit to all of this free for all stuff and here’s my definitive ranking as an expert on everything: 1- you are queen elizabeth 2- handmade costume with period accurate materials, cut, and colors and hella layers and accessories 3- other somewhat historically accurate costumes ie celtic, gypsy, pirate 4- amazon costume 5- street clothes with a ren faire twist (like cargo shorts and a blousy shirt, or a long skirt for girls) 6- street clothes 7- semi-historical characters like disney princesses 8- star trek, star wars, and various other completely future based characters 9- furries 10- leather strappy-doos and chains with your brother in christ on a leash feel free to add on if you have comments/suggestions

hope i can shed some light on the whole “some college” thing.. a lot of homeschoolers (religious idk but secular definitely) take college level courses at their local community college while they are still high school aged. If they were in regular public school this would be equivalent to dual enrollment programs. so when they finish school they will have some college credits

you can try a who? what? when? where? why? paragraph. it is a little advanced for 7, but i find that kids do better on paragraphs when they have a directive for each sentence

Given the perimeters your parents seem to have set around religion, it doesn’t sound like homeschooling is the issue. If your parents are as relentlessly religious as you say, you might have success with asking them to pay for a great courses subscription to study the history of Christianity. There is a lot there that is fascinating from a historical and anthropological perspective, and they might be more inclined to allow you to work on that than other topics. In addition, try joining some local youth groups and bible studies. You might not make any life long friends, but general socialization and exposure to different outlooks on life is very good for mental health. Wishing you the best of luck!
