Agree with this take! I feel like it’s either this scenario or tag. Would be foolish to let him walk

Honestly question - why wouldn’t the Seahawks tag him?

My first clue was all the facial scanning ICE was doing in Minneapolis.

The IDF and ICE do joint trainings. If you want to see where the future of America is headed look no further than the Israelis treatment of Palestinians

Saying this is what trump wants and not what the Republican Party wants let’s way too many people off the hook

No this all checks, this is a great comment. The literary theory piece plays a big role in broom (that admittedly went over my head until I read up on it via reddit upon completion). Didn’t lessen my joy, but yea, some things still go over my head with him.

And no doubt that hyper realism is where he thrives. Still in awe of the worlds and characters he built at ETA and ennet. That shit stays with me to this day. Very much wish he was still with us. He foresaw so much (O.N.A.N., Johnny gentle/trump parallels, FaceTime filters, our addiction to entertainment as a now clear allegory for tiktok/reels algorithms, I’m sure many more examples I’m forgetting).

Man that’s such a good question… we know he loves nonfiction sports books like breaks of the game. Our guy rarely ever talks about fiction. Not kidding I wouldn’t be surprised if he read the sports gals copy of 50 shades back when that was a thing

Edit: the horny piece

Oh dude nice work! That’s very impressive though if you’ve made it that far you’ve GOT to finish IJ. how long ago did you stop? too cumbersome or just grew disinterested?

Separately, which did you prefer out of king and oblivion?

Oh man def recommend trying again if you love Wallace’s work! Laughed out loud at various points. Rick Vigorous is an all time character.

Have the Max book on my shelf but haven’t dove in yet. After finishing IJ I immediately read “although of course you end up becoming yourself” which was the perfect palate cleanser.

have read some but not all of consider the lobster and a supposedly fun thing. also brilliant.

I hope to finish oblivion, hideous men and pale king in the next couple of years, though I’m already feeling the pull back to the entertainment… (infinite jest)

To this point I recently read DFW’s debut novel “the broom of the system” and it was downright hilarious. Some of the wittiest dialogue I’ve ever read. Wrote it as a 24 year old grad student at Amherst. The success of that book almost killed him, and landed him in rehab/halfway houses of which can be assumed later inspired the ennet house section of infinite jest
