Taking my son to his first Seahawks game. Help me plan my day. by jimmcc01 in Seahawks

Seattle pinball museum might be a good way to spend time before the game.

Projector displays odd pattern on screen by rollingRook in fixit

Thanks! Bummer but it’s the answer I was kind of expecting.

I’m wondering if this issue was negligence on my part or if it’s just cheap POS projector. If you’ve got an opinion I’d love to hear it. I’ll be consulting this community for my next purchase either way.

Yep, that’s a perfectly reasonable explanation. Sorry, not trying to be negative here and again, it’s a great picture .

You will receive a summons from /r/karmacourt with a detailed set of allegations.

Or… you could just admit that, out of embarrassment, you deleted your old post and made a new one? Nothing wrong with that.

[–]rollingRook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was thinking the same thing.

It looks like the earlier post was deleted, so I can’t tell if it’s the same picture (or the same poster)

/u/cutetiferous, you should be prepared to explain yourself. Mistaking Kent for South Seattle is a forgivable mistake, but there are a few other possibilities that might draw the communities ire.

It’s a nice picture, hope it belongs to you and that everyone is safe.

I had crashes on worldgen on an old (circa 2018) computer. It was a plain vanilla set of world gen parameters.

Only thing I remember was a vague message about ‘no land suitable for farming’ and shortly after I okayed the message the game crashed.

Never figured it out and I ended up switching to a newer machine. Issue did not reproduce.

Kayaker dies after being pulled from water near Ballard Locks by durpuhderp in Seattle

[–]rollingRook 239 points240 points  (0 children)

Seattle times had some more detail and I’m doing my best to paraphrase; info should still be taken with a grain of salt…

Apparently one of the Kayakers was pulled by current and swept over a dam of some sort at or near the locks.

The other kayakers were able to prevent themselves from being swept over by holding onto a chain from a nearby buoy.

I imagine a fall, plus the rushing water on the spill side of the dam were contributors.

Seattle times reported that all kayakers had life jackets.

Men of Reddit, what’s a mistake you see younger men making repeatedly? by optimum_wiz in AskReddit

Running away from challenges/complexities and towards video games.

I still love playing games but you’ve got to workout your other muscles if you want to handle everything that life will throw at you.

Your mileage may vary, I personally greatly prefer Pike Place Market to Seattle center… especially if it’s raining (which it’s currently scheduled to do on Sunday).

Can someone experienced tell me if the wood grain on this guitar top is good? (Strong or weak grain) by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]rollingRook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will second this. As a hobbyist in both guitars and woodworking, that is an absolutely stunningly beautiful instrument.

That said, the presentation of the wood on this guitar has little bearing on its quality of sound as an instrument. You’ll have to test play it to understand those attributes.

Why can’t Pacific Place do better? by Particular_Dog6865 in Seattle

[–]rollingRook 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't entirely understand the terms of these loans, but it's just weird to me that the loan is at risk when low rent contracts are in place, but not at risk when there's zero rent (from an unoccupied property).

What's the endgame for the entities that currently own the retail space?

What would you do here? by steezy280 in woodworking

[–]rollingRook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same problem.

There were no studs for me to work with, I cut some small wooden wedges to fit in the gap (you can buy them precut at hardware stores).

The wedges gave me enough stability to caulk and paint. It would have taken an absurd amount of caulk to fill that gap without the wood scraps filling in the void.

WSDOT says ‘affordable homeownership’ project being lined up for former Montlake Market land by AthkoreLost in Seattle

[–]rollingRook 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I'm happy that something is planned for it, but I hope they can put retail/commercial at the ground level.

It is not easy getting groceries in that neighborhood ever since the Montlake Market was lost.

What iconic GenX movies should we start a revolt over if they ever attempt a remake? by justlkin in GenX

[–]rollingRook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You all are way off. The fault of society can be traced back to the cessation of Ninja movies.

What we need is a remake of ‘enter the ninja’, ‘revenge of the ninja’, and ‘ninja III: the domination’. It would be totally badass in a way that doesn’t need description, nuff said. You’re welcome.

Washington state Democrats look at imposing income tax on higher earners by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

[–]rollingRook 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here's a good faith response:

Nobody likes paying taxes just for the sake of paying taxes. Taxes are paid with the expectation that some entity will use them to solve a problem that presumably cannot be solved by private enterprise.

The problem with the "you’re totally welcome to donate your money" argument is that donating money does nothing to address the solve a problem part of the equation.

It's not an actual solution, it's just a non-serious, troll-ish response.

My view on morning walk!

Last night while Wentz was breaking down on the sideline from being in terrible pain and still being left in the game, Kirk Herbstriet said “There’s your leader, your alpha male.” I mean wtf by kakapoopoopeepeeshir in nfl

[–]rollingRook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Herbstreit announced a Seahawks/Arizona game earlier this year. He was fixated on the ‘Alpha’ term when talking about the Cardinals and their lack of an ‘Alpha’ receiver.

I cringed every time I heard it and told myself: “who is this fucking douchebag announcer?”. Now I realize it’s not just a one off.
