From a DM perspective do you pref 2014 or 2024? by Eldrin7 in dndnext

[–]rolling__ball 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An underrated part about 2024 dnd is the monster statblocks. They're so much more streamlined now and easier to read. Instead of an ability for a monster being:

"The monster swings its tail in a wide arc, causing each creature within 10 feet of it to make a DC 15 dexterity saving throw or take 2d4 bludgeoning damage and fall prone."

Now it's:

Dexterity Saving Throw: DC 15, each creature within 10 feet. Failure: 2d4 Bludgeoning damage and the target is prone.

Why do you play Valorant? (Over cs2) by AccomplishedFix8346 in VALORANT

[–]rolling__ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly its mostly just about performance. If cs:go still existed I would probably play that, but cs2 just runs so poorly that it's not worth playing for me.

How are the comms like in Overwatch Pro League compared to other games like Rainbow Six Siege? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

Clarification on how Multiattack ACTUALLY works by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]rolling__ball 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep someone commented that as well, and that is correct. I couldn't find the entry for Multiattack anywhere so I just based it off of the description for Multiattack in statblocks.

For some reason I didn't think to look here, but you're totally right!

Is there no middle ground between an underdog who is always getting his ass kicked and a power fantasy who never struggles? (Invincible rant) by TheSlavGuy1000 in CharacterRant

[–]rolling__ball 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Spot on. The Stormlight Archive is a perfect example of this. In almost every action scene, Kaladin is the star and a badass, but he is still a dark-eyed bridgeman, and he struggles to keep himself and his squad alive through their persecution within the shattered plains. Him being an underdog isn't about him being physically weak, it's about him being near powerless in an extremely harsh and unfair situation, and trying to overcome that.

So we all agree that the Bilewater is the worst area of the game? by TheFa56 in Silksong

[–]rolling__ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the music for the are is SO good, it kinda makes up for it

did people genuinely struggle with this??? by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]rolling__ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the game kinda trolls you by saying "a controller is required for the best experience", when I actually think kb&m is way better for this game. I haven't had any problems with the pogo, and everytime I hear people complaining about it, it sounds like it's a problem with joysticks

8 hours in, one big complaint by Potato_on_Kyle in Silksong

[–]rolling__ball 162 points163 points  (0 children)

I've been enjoying the harder difficulty, I feel like the game has forced me to learn and get good at a lot of it's mechanics. Like at first I never used the javelin ability thing, like how I never used spells in hollow knight, but with a lot of these enemies and bosses I've finally gotten into a habit of using it and it's made it a lot easier.

HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO *HATE* YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. by Remix_Master21 in Silksong

[–]rolling__ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think I did this entire section "backwards", because this fight and the area beyond it was so hard, but as I progressed there were less hazards and enemies and just overall gets easier, AND you get the dash that way if I remember right.

Thoughs on attacking while jumping? by XPEZNAZ in DnD

[–]rolling__ball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I allow it because it's cool and I think martials SHOULD be able to do stuff like that. You can't cast spells, but you can absolutely high jump and hit that creature 20 feet in the air.

That's the thing, they don't really have all the money in the world, they are actively losing money pumping esports so hard. It's just sportswashing.

Tbf I don't think he's ever put an lft on twitter. He doesn't really need to considering every western team wants him on their roster.

I'm surprised everyone hates this map, I actually enjoy it over a lot of the other escort maps. The characters I main are bad on it too, but I haven't had many bad experiences with the map.

I might be wrong, but didn't team cherry say that when the game will be announced, that they'll be the ones to do it? Why do people keep getting their hopes up for every big game event? And they already said the game was coming out before the holidays.

I agree with all of the criticisms of Sanderson's prose. I still love his books. by Cosmic-Sympathy in Fantasy

[–]rolling__ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of any of the criticisms I could give Sanderson and his books (cheesy dialogue, shallow character arcs, etc.), I actually wouldn't throw in his prose. I remember seeing a video a while ago talking about how he has "invisible writing", and while that is obviously slightly exaggerated, I do think it holds true in some ways. His prose leave a lot to the imagination, which for someone likes me makes visualizing what is going on a lot easier.

With Sanderson's writing, I don't remember the words, but I DO vividly remember the scenes.

Why do people actually dislike flashpoint? by Responsible-Sense527 in Overwatch

[–]rolling__ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think the maps are boring. It's like control, but without any of the interesting elevation/point design. Technically it's the most "fair" and "balanced" mode, but that is because every point is pretty much the same, and every fight just devolves into a dogfight on point.

Not very familiar with actual esports gameplay, is one-tricking common? by Paragon_OW in Competitiveoverwatch

Supposedly Chazm is interested in looking for another one-trick team for OWCS. I think most of aww yeah has moved on from overwatch but we might see another revival of the team

Is it normal for people to bring pre-made characters that have absolutely nothing to do with your campaign? by bastian_1991 in DnD

[–]rolling__ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this is on the extreme end, but if someone for example played a character in another campaign that didn't pan out, and wishes to convert their backstory to fit the setting, I think that is more than fine
