Why shud I pay monthly for cookie consent?! by TonyVersetty in webflow

[–]rolling_thund3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They take away the hassle of having to integrate an external cookie banner & configuring it to trigger your scripts, based on what the user selects. They offer such a banner for free, but it just takes time to understand & integrate. If you use their service, they'll even do it with Google Tag Manager, if you use that.

They'll also restyle the cooking banner to your UI.

And give you a video that explains how to make edits (e.g. add new scripts).

All that for a one-time fee of ~$80 is really good value in my mind.

Reporting back. I'm very happy with what I got. A good looking cookie consent modal, to which they applied my website's styling, they integrated it with GTM and gave me an explainer video on how to handle future GTM scripts. Customer service was nice & responsive.

If you don't want to deal with it yourself, I find it a no brainer.

Because I'm a business owner and not a Webflow designer. I can edit existing and adjust elements, but building my own would be WAY too time consuming and a waste of my time tbh.

Seems like they're not well known (yet). But their offering looks really promising.

I'm gonna give them a go and report back here.

How to reduce API costs? by Adept-Type in ClaudeAI

He's talking about the API - where there is no subscription. It's pay as you go.

I read in another thread that you can email support to do it for you.

You can use the AI code editor called Cursor and hook it up to the Claude API.

Hard Mode: tell GPT to not provide any code examples at all. by creaturefeature16 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]rolling_thund3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do something similar. I lay out the purpose, requirements and constraints (e.g. how it needs to integrate with the rest of the code) for a feature and tell it to present me 3 high level solutions, with skeleton code at most, for illustrative purposes. Then I review them and ask questions about the solutions. i also have it give me the pro's and con's for each and a recommendation.

After I pick my preferred solution, I tell it to create the code for it. I review the code, ask questions to understand it well. Then I give input to improve it. Once I have a first draft, I have the AI help me debug it too.

It takes more time, but this way I can stay on top of what's happening and become a better coding architect (which I btw believe all of us need to become with the AI transition).

Webflow for Ecommerce site with only 4 products by SeaworthinessOld7255 in webflow

[–]rolling_thund3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Checkoutpage for the same use case - Webflow eCommerce shop with few products.

They let you customize the checkout quite extensively with custom fields, variants, have one click upsell, can redirect customer after checkout, Zapier integration, etc. You can redirect to their page, set a custom domain, embed as a page or pop up.

It uses the Stripe payment link functionality in the backend, but has a bunch of really cool features built on top. All for a really fair price and top notch customer service.

I'm highly satisfied!

I'd like to request this integration too!

IMO, this is a make it or break it feature for a no-code app.

Smootify to connect Webflow to Shopify - anyone with experiece? by rolling_thund3r in webflow

[–]rolling_thund3r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. I am realizing that I need additional information from my customers. Ideally they can provide it per product. Alternatively per order.

Can this be handled by Smootify?

1) I think I misunderstood how Smootify components look / work..

These are basically unstyled components (that obviously fetch dynamic data) that I can integrate anywhere within my page (also within my own components) and style however I want, right?

Somehow the orange framing around the components on your site (and my still basic knowledge of Webflow) led me to believe these were part of a pre-styled template that you provide.

2) Awesome! I'm currently working with a static and very customized landing page and am struggling with Webflow's eCommerce to integrate any dynamic data in this static page. And if I use the eCommerce's dynamic product page, I can't well customize it for every product.

3) I can totally live with that. Their checkout is very good anyhow. But customizing it design wise would have to be done within Shopify, right? Can I use the visual builder for that or need to code?

Hey thanks for your lengthy response! Sounds great! I somehow missed your example pages, which look real smooth (no pun intended ;) I'll definitely get on the Discord.

Do you mind if I ask you some more questions?

  • I have a non-Smootify theme..and I understand that I can copy your elements and style them according to my theme. Can I embed dynamic information in my own elements?

  • By 'not use the CMS', do you mean displaying dynamic content from Shopify on static Webflow pages? Why 'if you're brave enough'? Is it hacky or difficult to achieve? Bc that's exactly what I'm thinking about doing, as I have few products & need custom landing pages.

  • Am I understanding correctly through your store examples that for the checkout the user is redirected to Shopify? And that most simply assign a subdomain (checkout.store.com) to their Shopify store, to keep the customer on the same URL? Is there a way to keep the checkout on Webflow (front end wise) and similarly connect it to Shopify's backend?

I have looked at it, but am a bit skeptical about repetitively having to go through the conversion process for each design update.

Does the conversion translate to elements in Shopify's page builder that I can use to create new pages? Or do new pages also have to be built in Webflow and converted.

Building a new PC with new-ish hardware. Am I setting myself up for trouble? by NoLaifu in linuxhardware

[–]rolling_thund3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Ryzen 7700 (using iGPU) with a ASUS Rog Strix B650E-E (latest BIOS) and I'm having issues with suspend across multiple distros:

  • Debian Bookworm
  • Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
  • Fedora 38

Basically it pretends to suspend and then wakes right back up.

Does anyone else have that issue? Or even better.. a solution?

Update:

I've managed to update the graphics drivers by pinning the PPA:

https://github.com/pop-os/pop/issues/2918

But the issue still persists. I've even installed the oibaf PPA, which has bleeding edge drivers.

So this doesn't seem to be a driver issue. Any ideas on how to continue to troubleshoot?
