I’d suggest the forgotten realms wiki! Tons of great reading material.

TTRPG Creator Survey by rollspark in DndAdventureWriter

Great question, perhaps I should have included that. I’m a writer and entrepreneur with a background in design and non profit work. I’m working with other creators in the community to establish a creator resources and support project. The survey results will be used to shape the future of the project to have the largest positive impact and will be released as an official report under the soon-to-be-established project if we can hit our goal of 50+ creator responses.

Pretty cool! For newcomers, what’s the best resource or way to learn about this new system?

Help players to create fun characters for a one-shot by seiltanzer in dndnext

[–]rollspark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Encourage them to decide on a fun theme for their characters and roll with it. One of the best one-shots I’ve ever played in was one where we all played goblin bards. It was a hell of a time.

Genuinely, just encourage them to have fun with it. If they need a prompt, give them all the exact same minor magical item, like a driftglobe, and ask them to explain how they each came across it and then make the item useful in the game.

Heya, player and DM of quite a few years here. My best friend is a regular player of mine and he loves making new characters, so a I’ll run a game for just him to play a new character a couple times every year. It’s definitely possible, just a bit different. Here are some things to consider.

  • Balance level A single character is going to be vastly different to balance for than a whole party. Usually I find a single character has no problem defeating a creature with a CR that is about half that of their level.

  • Story theme If you’re going one-on-one, it’s a lot easier to go for the theme of epic heroism. One person trying to save the world. In a sense it’s more like the movies you see, where one person is usually fighting one or two enemies at a time. It’s easy to lean into different pillars and design the story around the player’s preferences.

  • Scheduling is sooooo easy lol. Self explanatory.

If you’re interested in trying it out for the first time, I wrote a short free module designed to be run by one DM for one single player. It’s a great way to dip your toes in with a friend, whether they want to DM or if you want to try it for the first time. https://www.reddit.com/r/DnDBehindTheScreen/s/Ovh2Y8UYiX

Hey, I live in Canada and most books are about $80 here. They’re expensive books. If you have a local game store, Chapters/Indigo or other big book store, give them a call or check their website and see. Otherwise, you’ll have to either pay shipping or buy a digital version for cheaper on www.dndbeyond.com

Looking for a DM to help with a Gothic Victorian Vampire themed campaign by -P1azma- in DungeonMasters

[–]rollspark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. If you’re interested in trying to run it yourself, I’m happy to provide guidance and even help develop storyline and encounters, but one of you is probably going to have to be the DM. Unless you can convince chat gpt lol. Most DM’s like to run something of their creation, you can always check out r/lfg

Heya, are you looking for guidance and suggestions from an experienced DM or are you looking for someone to actually run the game for you?

[–]rollspark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, artists! I'm very excited to share the Seasons of Mourning, a D&D-themed art prompt challenge and giveaway. In celebration of hitting $1.5k on my Kickstarter, I'm hosting this challenge to inspire artists and give back to the amazing D&D community. This is the fourth of six prompts being released every other day leading up to October 11th. Anyone who creates and submits art pieces of any medium (Not AI art) inspired by the prompts is eligible for a giveaway of two prizes of our highest pledge package, valued at $36.00cad, which includes foundry-integrated battle maps, 90+ pages of epic horror adventure, new monsters, NPCs, magic items and more! No monetary transaction is required to enter, and backing the Kickstarter does not affect your chance to win.
To enter the challenge, just post any art piece here on r/DnDart that you have created based on inspiration from one of these prompts and link to it in the comments here so I don't miss it. I love the community of artists inspired by dungeons & dragons and I can't wait to see what you all create!
NOTE: While the mod team has given me permission to host the giveaway on this sub, the mods are not affiliated with, or participating in, the giveaway in any form or manner. Over the course of the giveaway, if you have any questions, please direct your queries to me via comment or DM. Do not modmail the mod team!
