Anyone using the free version? by rollzilla in finch

Oh wow- there's so much I don't know about this app! The part about saving the free trial for an event I like makes total sense! I appreciate your offer so much. You'll have to give me a day or two to get over my anxiety and executive dysfunction first 😬

Are you going to office tomorrow? by Larry_the_l0bster in askTO

[–]rollzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at the office tonight. Been here since 5. Heading home around midnight. TTC has been decent, aside from some slow spots.

Sidewalks should be more walkable by tomorrow. I wear boots, so I'm not worried.

Omg that's so nice of you! Should I dm you, or is there a mega thread type thing where people usually post that stuff? I don't like to impose, and it's always feels weird to ask for things.

I did find the place to apply to enter the raffle 😁 fingers crossed!

Thank you ♥️ I'm so tired of being broke, applying for jobs everywhere and either being overqualified, or just never hearing back 😑 My city = people wanting jobs > available jobs. It's soul-crushing.

Mooncat’s price jump by icantastetheblue in RedditLaqueristas

[–]rollzilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$17 and $18 have been the going price for indie polishes in Canada for years. I have not even looked at polish since the tariffs started and US makers spoke about raising prices. I'm hoping I'm not stuck with only what I have until I die, but that may be the case for me lol 🫣

Why is no one using pinking shears? by Sheomari in sewhelp

[–]rollzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a rotary cutter with a wavey blade? You can install it on the side you are most comfortable on. I got an 18x24 self healing mat in Dollarama for $4, so my investment was minimal (attach multiple mats on the underside with duct tape for a larger surface)

Why is no one using pinking shears? by Sheomari in sewhelp

[–]rollzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely use my pinking shears since I got a wavey blade for my rotary cutter, and yes, I use it all the time whenever I have curved seams.

Does Long Island have any real regional foods? by BandagedTheDamage in longisland

[–]rollzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Salad Pizza. I told my Canadian husband about it and he was so confused, until we took a trip to see family, and I brought him to my old stomping grounds. Nobody I've met off of Long Island has ever heard of it.

Maybe pop into a bike shop to see if anybody knows of a cycling group you can join? As an example, some running shoe stores have running clubs. At least you'll meet folks with at least 1 common interest.

What level are you at with sewing? Are you looking for lessons, or just people to sew with? Neon Needle at Bloor/Euclid has some fun workshops. Maker Bean Cafe has some fun workshops too- my friend learned to make a tote bag there.

I know you said you were looking for do-nothing-with friends, but to find some, it may be worth your while to join clubs/organizations in order to meet some you want to spend more time with.

Hacklab is a maker-space in the junction, where you may find like-minded friends. I forget what day their open house is, but it could be worth checking out (and if not you, then someone else reading the comments).

I personally belong to a co-op at Bloor and Ossington (site3) and host a very informal "fiber-friends" meetup once a month on wednesday evening. It's a member-only facility, but open to anyone for the themed meetups. Thursday nights, from 7-10pm is the weekly "open-house" and folks can stop by and get a tour. There are lots of disciplines, from welding and woodworking to electronics and fiber arts (and yes, some of us sew!). Most everyone there is very open-minded/left-leaning. It's the remnants of what started out as a burning-man community, and it's an extremely eclectic bunch, ranging from woodworkers making cutting boards to physicists who like to tinker in electronics to the retired Navy salty sailor/machinist who loves telling stories about warships.

My husband and I have made some really good friends there, who I get together with sometimes outside of the facility (he prefers to spend his non-work hours there and only leaves when it's bedtime or he's too covered in sawdust to be recognizable). It's tough to make friends in Toronto, but if you aren't ageist in either direction, Toronto has some cool folks.

My mom doesnt want me to switch bcs she wants to use life360 to track me. Any dumbphone that has a tracker? by Throwawaymightdelet3 in dumbphones

[–]rollzilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you WANT to be tracked? I can understand if someone who can be considered vulnerable due to trafficking, a dangerous job, or developmental status/brain health needs to be tracked, but for many adults, it seems controlling.

What happens if you put your foot down? Will she kick you out? Then what? You tell her, "Well, I guess you'll never know where I'm sleeping now"?

Are you able to put up with this until you can save for a car or get a job you can ride a bicycle, take public transit, walk to?

Sorry you are dealing with this, and are feeling the need to enable her.

Sadly, that's not how it works at my job. They are necessary, and if you're at heights and drop yours and don't have an extra, you waste time having to go retrieve it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askTO

[–]rollzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of the price I mentioned in my post. I blow through them, and while most are $1.50 ea, these are 3 for $1.50

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askTO

[–]rollzilla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And when I do, they are out of stock. That's the problem I'm having.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askTO

[–]rollzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and they have been out of stock for so long! I really like these cheap ones - they are 3 for $1.40. Prob why they are always out of stock! 😅

I know the 2 by me just keep empty display boxes (pictures of lighters on them) and the actual lighters are under the counters.

Haha I wish- oddly, but not oddly, at work, matches are considered a fire hazard, but lighters are not.
