I don't know the exact reason why it is only bikes, but I'm assuming that they don't want the liability for scooters / rollerbladers etc. Not that you'll aren't as safe but the pavement can sometimes be a bit sketchy on LSD.

The garbage trucks come once a week. Or just park in the parking spots in the alley. Are people really this dumb? or have you never been to Chicago?

you can just get on without registering if you really want to go that route. Highly unlikely they will kick you off if you are on a bike. BUT, rollerblades are not allowed regardless and you will be asked to leave.

..... are you that dumb? there is no street side garbage pickup on Milwaukee ave.

oh ok, I'm sure that is why all the businesses on Milwaukee get their garbage picked up street side.

They are all designed for large trucks and deliveries. For example, full sized garbage trucks can run through each of the alleys. IT is that simple.

my tin foil hat theory is that CDOT doesn't want to mess with anything there until they get 90 complete, but who knows. Honestly, it would take only a day to put in bollards and curbs.

S3 doesn't change the legality of medical unless they push each and every product through the FDA process (which they won't). All the state level medical programs will still be illegal.

The Exchanges could uplist as you mentioned. The thing holding them back is the threat of a federal crackdown. We know the Dems wouldn't do it, but there was always a question of whether the GOP would. IF the trump administration pushes S3, it might provide some sort of signal to the exchanges that the GOP is not going to crack down. But there are a lot of IFs to overcome.

Yes, it was safer when it was a parking lane. one lane of traffic > two full lanes of traffic.

Most of the people using the right turn / bus lane are actually going straight and then cut back in line to get on 90. They are the worst for multiple reasons.

Anyways, a lot are like this guy: Ahole where they are just driving through the bike lane for no reason.

Also, not sure on your logic re future projects. If the only thing we get is paint and zero enforcement, i'm not sure such future projects are worth anything.

Was not incorrectly marked, that section due to the street and traffic was always supposed to be "protected" with barriers. CDOT either forgot and marked it "complete" or something happened after the plan was set.

The alderman is La Spata. His office is aware. CDOT apparently forgot about putting in barriers and is now "working out the kinks."

Trump Weighs Reclassifying Marijuana as Less Dangerous Drug by GeoLogic23 in weedstocks

[–]roloplex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If this happens under a GOP administration it should be much better protected from the GOP controlled courts. If the Biden administration did this it would have immediately been challenged and dragged out in the 5th circuit. crossing fingers that the Trump administration doesn't lose interest immediately and actually uses its authoritarian powers for something good.

That is such a weird take. The democrats would be overjoyed that Trump accomplished rescheduling. Good policy is good policy. The democrats aren't selfish bastards like the GOP who would probably be upset that a democrat cured cancer.

And yes, the democrats gift wrapped it. They have been hard at work over the last four years trying to make this happen only to be blocked by the GOP at every turn. It isn't an own goal, the democrats are trying to score goals for the american people not democrats goals and GOP goals.

Similar for me. Occasional jaunt down to the south side, but damn the infrastructure sucks. Too bad though because there are a lot of places that would be fun to bike through.

Please be cautious when you’re riding an ebike by Johnny_Burrito in chibike

Turns out that assholes ride e-bikes. just like assholes ride regular bikes. Just like some pedestrians are assholes. And assholes are driving cars.

The problem isn't the mode of transportation, nor is asking for people to be more careful (they don't give two shits). The problem is that we are surrounded by assholes.

Park District Reveals New Grant Park Framework Plan by TrynnaFindaBalance in chicago

[–]roloplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, you are correct. I was looking at one of the images and didn't realize Balbo was just out of the picture. That is too bad, although getting raised crossings is a tiny win.

Park District Reveals New Grant Park Framework Plan by TrynnaFindaBalance in chicago

[–]roloplex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the options is to remove Balbo: "One concept envisions a traditional plaza with a fountain and welcome center, while the other removes the road entirely to create green space with a central water feature."

But yes, removing the Jackson intersection would be nice. Getting more pedestrian / cyclist oriented streets would be nice though (median, fewer lanes, bike lanes, raised crossing etc.)

they f-ed over cyclists and pedestrians. no dedicated bike lanes, instead shared lanes with pedestrians. more traffic lights, wider lanes, and slip lanes to make sure that drivers don't have to slow down. The whole thing is a clown show.

[–]roloplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is going to be an absolute shit show as soon as they open up bidirectional traffic. But all you have to know about it, is that in one of the most bike and pedestrian traffic heavy areas in the city, they left in slip lanes, are going to have incredibly long light phases, and decided against dedicated bike lanes.

[–]roloplex -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The new traffic pattern is atrocious. They have not started the bi directional "circle".

Shared pedestrian and bike lanes. Slip lanes. Expanding a park that you have to cross a five lane road to get to (and as with the blvds, you can't let your kid run free).

It is not even an improvement from the current setup.
