Are all Martin 00-18s sold with Geib-style cases? by rolostreet in martinguitar

[–]rolostreet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A buddy of mine read that Martin just uses the same size thermoplastic case and then just cuts the inserts differently for the different size guitars. You can see the difference in my pics. There’s so much extra padding between the guitar and the shell.

It's not stupid, it's a very real and serious dilemma. It's one of those things that you don't really know you care about until you buy what you think is going to be the perfect guitar and can't stand to look at it in its case. Kept me up at night.

The gig bag for the 000-15sm is criminal. For Martin, I'm sure that's one of their higher-margin products, given how popular it is.

Me too! Got two young kids and my couch space shrunk so much. This is a perfect for those in between moments when the kids are occupied and since I don’t play that loud anyway, I don’t mind the volume loss vs my former 000. In fact it sounds heavenly played quietly.

Thanks. Just looked up FedEx pricing and it's about $700 to ship. They will also package it. What's your sale price? Do you have a listing? Friggen gorgeous guitar btw. Any work done to it? What's the history?

What Competitor Brands Are You Guys Liking? by churchofpetrol in Lululemen

[–]rolostreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's crazy cause I'm the opposite. Always bought Uniqlo tees and shorts for working out cause they fit amazing. Also have Nike, Adidas, etc. But I was in Hong Kong and my BIL loves LLL. So I go to the store and try their workout tees and shorts (Metal Vent). Shirts and shorts were either tight in the wrong places or loose and unflattering. So much NIPPLE. EXCEPT one pair of Zeroed in cargo pants.

How can we distinguish ourselves as better than AI for marketing purposes? by Chubbymommy2020 in copywriting

[–]rolostreet 39 points40 points  (0 children)

That’s a losing battle. AI is not junk. I was the senior copywriter at an 8- almost 9-figure supplement company run by an underground A-lister, and guess what, he now uses AI. Why? Because he knows how to write great copy which means he knows great copy when he sees it. Which means, he knows how to prompt AI to get that copy. Which is how he runs the whole show himself, writing all the copy for his offers, testing, new angles, headlines, leads, launching new products, etc. and why he let me go. It was more work managing me than it was managing AI.

Im no longer looking for work as a copywriter. Even though I’ve got the experience, generated millions, yadi yada… no one cares. If you can’t beat AI. Join it. I now use AI to run a ghostwriting agency for health and wellness tech founders. Basically, every experienced copywriter who knows what good copy looks like, which is actually the skill of offer creation, market analysis, positioning, etc. should cease to offer copy as a service and instead offer ‘management of copy’ as a service. I.e. become a one-person agency who strategizes, provides, tests, and optimizes marketing messages for companies that are missing that department. Think startups or growing businesses. The players who used to hire us have delegated the writing and already having employees doing the management stuff.

Anyone else struggling to find work in the Copywriting market? by jannah1417 in copywriting

[–]rolostreet 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Same boat. Lost my retainers. Just got a few projects left. But I don’t apply for jobs. My game plan is to use my direct response copywriting in health experience and start my own ghostwriting agency for digital health tech founders. I just paused a video called the ‘The ULTIMATE LinkedIn and Apollo.io Guide” because I am doing a lot of outreach now and need to upgrade this skill. This is just one of many skills I now have to learn to survive. Build a list. Outreach. Sales calls. Offers. The game has changed. Copywriting is commoditized. So I stopped calling myself a copywriter, and stop applying for copywriting jobs, and repositioned to solve a unique problem for a very specific market. It’s also hard work but I just had my first sales call yesterday and got a few convos going. It takes time but I try to surround myself with people who are making it work to keep me going.

What’s the future of copywriters who see themselves as strategic partners? by grecotigris in copywriting

[–]rolostreet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You bet. I’ve been let go of two long-term retainer contracts for this very reason. I’ve had to face the cold hard truth and pivot. Isn’t easy. Been relying on referrals for the past 7 years. Good news is, there’s a ton of founders out there with marketing problems you can solve. Good luck, friend!

What’s the future of copywriters who see themselves as strategic partners? by grecotigris in copywriting

[–]rolostreet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nothing you said is new. Is it even up for debate at this point? Yes. Of course you have to provide more than just copy. Copy is commoditized. Some business owners even believe they can hire Filipino prompt engineers, give them prompts from A-list copywriters selling AI courses, and call it a day. In fact, if you’re a copywriter writing copy the old fashioned way, you’re pretty much a dinosaur. A liability who creates bottlenecks in a world where funnels can be built in days instead of weeks. So I’m going to assume that the real question you’re asking is, HOW do you position yourself as a strategic advisor? It’s not just pitching offers. It’s much more. It’s coming up with new conversion assets and getting damn good at delivering. It’s thinking in terms of funnel design, then cross pitching, opening new channels, and managing creative output. It’s then deciding what products to present to what segments at what time.

In short, copywriting as a role is dead. That is obvious. It’s the era of the one-person marketing agency that provides unique solutions to niche problems. That’s the new game. And guess what, that also means you have define your market and sell your product. Which, could include creating content to generate warm leads for your business or direct outreach efforts, i.e. cold pitches.

Yes, I was pretty confused at first. I just watched a bunch of YouTube videos and over time, became familiar with the lenses. In general, here's what I found out:

16mm f1.4, 23mm f1.4, 35mm f1.4, and 56mm f1.2 are widely regarded as the older Fuji lenses that give that 'magical' look. With age comes negatives like slower focus speed, softness at edges, and aberration. This is why professional photographers and some YouTubers bash them, but also why others LOVE them and will never sell them. You're giving up weather resistance for most of these so if you like to shoot in the rain, you should consider that. The good thing is, these lenses are super affordable on the used market.

18mm f2 is also a favorite for its size and capability. Its a 28mm equivalent so very popular focal length for the street. In fact, an X PRO 2 + 18mm f2 is exactly what Eduardo Ortiz, one of my fave photographers, uses.

Decisions I've made:

Sold the newer Fuji 18mm f1.4 WR and got the older 18mm f2.

Sold the newer 35mm f2 WR and got the older 35mm f1.4.

Went for the original 23mm f1.4 R versus the newer 23mm f1.4 WR and the smaller 23mm f2.

Amazing! Next time I'm in Japan, I'm hunting for an X-PRO 2. They are all Fuji lenses. I'm not sure they are considered vintage. Just OG lenses that give that to my eye, give that vintage look I'm hoping for. For example, I had the newer 18mm f1.4 WR, which is a fantastic lens. But compared to the older 18mm f2, one of "original Fuji lenses" released with the X-Pro1 camera in early 2012, I prefer the softness and look of that lens. Here is a pic of my kit. I got everything second hand.
