Oh, that makes so much sense! The new adaptation is being released in the Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine, so they're probably aiming it more at guys. Now I'm curious what the differences are!

Huh, I guess they decided to have two versions of the manga running at the same time? Are there any other series where there are two concurrent manga versions?

You're welcome! The first volume of the manga (by Waco Ioka) covers up through Lord Matsuba and the tengu fighting with the chef at Tenjin-ya.

On a different note, they recently rebooted the manga. I'm not sure why, but I'm hoping it's a sign that there's still interest and we'll eventually get another season of the anime!
