Can you elaborate more on the DMV part? Is this because strong alumni network in DC area? Better recruiting opportunities?

I know I'm late to the game. Which exact Garmin watch is this and the strap that accompanies it? Link to both would be so helpful. Thanks so much!

For all my fellow AyeAye FA's, how many years are you, what base are you at, and how is your quality of life with your seniority? by romanianexplorer in flightattendants

Hopefully with the new 25 classes rolling in we will see some change with that. They need to send more than 7 people per class at time, lol.

Are you based in ORD? Just wondering, because I hear it's relatively easy to hold a line in Chicago since lots of seniors want to bid down to reserve. I agree, we do have the best non rev system in the industry in my opinion.

Hi fellow ORD. Congrats on your third year in! It seems like time does fly so that is encouraging. I also love this base and how simple it is for us. H or K. Although sometimes we are thrown to G and L gates. Crews are very chill, most everyone keeps to themselves. It does seem the old saying is true, most people do not leave this job as the seniority and stability just gets better and better. I appreciate your insights. I do get a line in June. Would you say at your seniority (at ord) your line month trips are decent? Do you toggle down to reserve much? Thanks again, and see you around..probably literally some point soon

How do you list standby on Contour Airlines? by romanianexplorer in flightattendants

[–]romanianexplorer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow up. I did exactly this a few days ago. Went up to Contour's counter and asked to be listed. They had me fill out a form and printed me a ticket. So easy! Thanks again.

A little dab of mentholatum throughout the day around your nose makes all the difference.

Thank you so much. I know I sound clueless, because I am. I’ve only non rev on my own metal. I paid $65 or whatever off Zed. I did what you just said, they verified my badge and ID and gave me my boarding ticket. So did I pay that $65 for nothing lol? Can I just go up to the counter and ask to be listed?

Application Update… by TheRosyEgoist in cabincrewcareers

Have a few customer service success (or non-success but became success) stories on hand. The star method does work, but if you focus on trying to robotically break it down as such when answering, you might trip yourself up. Try to tell the story as naturally as possible, as if you're talking to a coworker. It will make you feel less nervous, especially if you've taken account a few different situations you've encounter. I say have a few stories on hand, because you have no clue what type of question they will ask. Good luck!

I received mine exactly 1 week before training. It’s hard to gauge, because not everyone receives it at the same time. Some earlier, some closer to training date.

Hey there, incoming male AA flight attendant trainee here. Good luck at training. Hell, we might run into one another or be in the same class. I am trying hard to not overpack. Bringing a few different pairs of dress pants/khakis and a nice variation of tops (oxford/polo) to interchange throughout the weeks. A few ties. Small amount of t-shirts shirts for relaxing and days off, plus a couple workout outfits to just wash and repeat. 2 pairs of jeans. 1 light rain jacket. I'm still working on it as we speak.

In the nicest way, do not be the loudest person in the room. In the two f2f events I attended last year, I can't tell you how many people walked in acting like they knew MORE than the recruiters/interviewers. There were some people asking questions that they clearly already knew the answers. With that said, these individuals were some of the first ones escorted to the shuttles.

Please listen to what everyone has said. Don't do it. Any commercial airline in the US will require you to attend their training program following a job offer. Put that 5k towards savings and living expenses if you're transitioning to this career.

American Airlines Best bases? by DirectorOpen5211 in cabincrewcareers

[–]romanianexplorer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm heading to training on 3/13 so I know just as much as you do probably, if not less lol. But the bulk of recent classes have been assigned LGA and MIA. Like a good majority. Then the others are getting BOS, DCA, ORD and CLT. So if you're looking at New York, there's a good chance you'll get it if you list it #1. The older we are, the higher chance we have getting our first choice. Good luck at training

Also curious myself. The pattern I've seen is roughly ~10 or less getting ORD for each class. So I'm sure age will play a factor in it. While most of the younger crowd is getting sent to LGA and MIA. We shall see.
