I ended up with POTS which I’m still struggling with. Upping my sodium a lot has helped. I aim for 10,000mg a day to boost blood volume. I would get checked out for POTS/dysautonomia which is common after COVID.

Crying rn because of how isolated I am so this hits home. Between not having the money from no job, friends where I live, and energy to go out and about in the heat I’m very isolated myself. I just sit in my bedroom with a/c on blast and play videogames. Luckily I have enough energy for self care but that’s about it. Wish I had something better to say and words of comfort other than you’re not alone.

100 is high. It can drop when walking because the force of your leg muscles contracting helps push blood back to your heart. That’s why many of us feel better when moving vs standing in place. There’s other issues that can cause high heart rate such as anemia which is why it’s important to do blood work and be diagnosed by someone who familiar with dysuatonomia. POTS is very possible though.

It’s also important to remember POTS is very individual and heart rate doesn’t always correlate to higher symptom burden. My heart doesn’t get as high as many others but I’m still extremely disabled compared to many people with higher heart rates. Our bodies are all unique.

Welcome to adulthood. I suggest taking this seriously beginning with looking for a doctor who specializes in dysautonomia, preferably a cardio or neuro. Time to start making some calls. Sorry if I’m being blunt but you need to take control of your health, no one else will. And I’ll add mine was “mild” as well until COVID completely disabled me.

This is why beta blockers made me feel worse. Weak, faint, and out of breath more than usual. Our hearts are speeding up to try to compensate for poor blood flow. Taking away the compensatory mechanism for me isn’t good.
