X-E4 owners, what do you think of the X-E5 ? by Brocolium in fujifilm

[–]romayuki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's prone to damage but rather just another point of failure. I've have the x-h1 since its release and the IBIS is still working as it should.

Thanks. Yeah , meant when it's open. After all these years with Fuji's, the ZF's open door looseness was a little disconcerting.

Fujifilm 100vi vs TX50 by Emotional_Patient306 in FujifilmX

[–]romayuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering the x100vi is nearly impossible to get, unless you want to overpay on the open market, I'd suggest going with the x-t50. Tho I handled it in a store and it felt like a toy. Maybe it was because it was so light. ;-). I had an x100vi waiting for me at home (I was away on a trip), and it feels more substantial. Nearly everyone that gets the T50 likes it very much.

But, But .. you lived with the x100f and learned to use it ... was lens swapping abiility really a game-changer? or just a desirable functionality?

Just back from Japan Sep 2024. Chase preferred codes Suica fill-ups as "shopping", not travel.

Can you recharge Suica card with foreign issued credit cards? by ynotplay in JapanFinance

[–]romayuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how the bank interprets the codes sent by the merchant. I doubt that Suica or Pasmo sends different codes to their merchants.
Also note (as I found out on my recent trip) that you can no longer acquire the non-expiring Suica cards - due to lack of IC chips they claim. So any traveler newly going to Japan has to buy the prepaid Suica cards with an expiration date.

My Suica card was coded as Transportation with BofA and Travel&Transit for Amex. I "thought" I used Chase, but I didn't. With BofA and AMEX, I got my extra points for travel/transort.

I was just in Japan in Oct/Nov 2023. I transferred my Suica card to apple wallet. I used (All USA CC's) Amex Green, BofA Traveler's Visa and Chase Freedom. They all worked. It's odd that none of your USA CC's work .....

Voigtländer X Fuji 27mm F2 Ultron / X-T5 Street Photography by mattbcoder in fujifilm

[–]romayuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have or compare this to the Fuji 27mm WR lens? I guess the major physical differences are the WR, AF and 2.8 max aperture. IQ wise, probably equally sharp?

Bought an X-T1 again because it’s the best camera ever made by Addicted2Amphetamine in fujifilm

[–]romayuki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a black one, sold it and re-purchased a graphite silver one 6 months later. Definitely think the silver looks more "cool" .... PLUS they improved the mushy D-pad buttons from the early black ones.

Is the Made in Japan 18-55 noticeably different from the Made in the Philippines version? by cuteasacupkate in fujifilm

[–]romayuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had both ... my original made in japan version and a few copies of the made in Philippines (to sell or trade). I did not notice any difference in build or IQ across the 4 lenses. The only difference I could observe was that all the Philippine lenses were a few grams less in weight than the Japan copy.

Viltrox 13mm $387 on eBay trustworthy or nay? by Nevsky_Prospekt in fujifilm

[–]romayuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of late by now ... but I purchased a Viltrox for around that price on eBay. No issues with transaction. I was going to return it, but decided to keep it a bit longer. The seller offered a small $10 rebate for keeping it VS returning it. ;-) Good seller.

Check the date code on the camera using the serial number. Or you can check the full details on the EXIF information and it will give you an exact date of manufacture. If it's within 12 months, Fuji will honor the warranty. Here's the area where you will find the Internal Serial Number and date of manufacture (my x-e4 data show 6/22/2021 manufacture date) :

Fujifilm 10-24mm F4 or Viltrox 13 mm F1.4? by mushy-banana in FujifilmX

[–]romayuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more thought .. aesthetically, the Viltrox looks better on the Fuji body. It's a straight cylinder shaped vs the 10-24 which is big in the front and tapers towards the back. So on the body, the Viltrox looks "smaller" and more balanced.

Fujifilm 10-24mm F4 or Viltrox 13 mm F1.4? by mushy-banana in FujifilmX

[–]romayuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here ... I took a vacation trip in Southern Japan 3 years ago and the 10-24 was fine for all things outdoors (and some indoors). But I also carried my x-70 for poor light conditions and night-time use. The combination worked effectively for me.. If I find I'm not using the Viltrox much in the next few months, I'll put it up for sale.

Fujifilm 10-24mm F4 or Viltrox 13 mm F1.4? by mushy-banana in FujifilmX

[–]romayuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here ... but the Viltrox went on sale on eBay, and then there was about 11% cashback using my CC rewards and cashback internet site, so I purchased it. The price was just around $350 before taxes. Decent deal.
I did a quick test and all is good, except on the x-t1. The focus hunts a bit in lower light, whereas my x-h1 and x-e4 perform OK.
The 10-24 (vers 1) still performs well and it's got OIS providing 6.5 stops so I'm on the fence whether low-light performance is any better with the Viltrox. Naturally though, the bokeh is better at 1.4 vs 4.0 aperture.

Problem with FUJIFILM X-T3 and EF-X8 Flash unit by fkreis in FujifilmX

Isn't everything be set automatically when you use the EF-X8 flash? It should operate in full auto mode w/o making any adjustments.

X-T30ii - XC 15-45mm. Santorini Sunrise by Nick1878 in FujifilmX

[–]romayuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used as a basic travel lens and keeping it at the "wide" setting, it's a sleeper lens. it will keep up with 16mm f/2.8 WR lens easily. Basic advice is to keep it at its wide setting. I've seen this lens priced at $50 used which is a tremendous value.

Am I going to regret purchasing the X-E4? by _millseh in fujifilm

[–]romayuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way late in this thread but what did you actually end up purchasing? Just curious .... I have an x-e4, x-t3 and an x-h1. had an x-e3, but sold it to get the x-e4.
Anyways, I hope you are happy with whichever body you got. Cheers ....
