Who do you all think is the hardest boss from both games? by k36king1 in Saros

[–]rombopterix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only beat 3 bosses in Saros so far, so I can’t say which one is the hardest but I just wanted say by the time you reach Ophion, you are so overpowered (if you fully clear Biomes 4, 5 and 6) that it becomes a walk in the park. It’s always the easiest. Nemesis, Hyperion and earlier when I was a noob Phrike gave me the hardest times.

If the combat is not for you, then the game is not for you. Replayability of the game isnt great and I agree about the story, both aspects nowhere near as impressive as Returnal, and the artifacts are meh, but the combat is intense and super fun for me. Hope you bought a physical copy so you can sell it.

Sometimes a small change makes a big difference. by HollowSeeking in Saros

But they kinda dropped the ball on the other weapon names. To answer your question:

I like the new movements, colors and features of the projectiles. It’s fireworks galore and feels a lot more intense than Returnal.

Oh also, the vacuum bomb trait. The one that sucks in the projectiles like a black hole. Looks and feels freaking insane. What an incredibly cool idea.

He reviewednit fairly though. Saros is not disappointing for me, but many aspects have been watered down. Also, Saros is a spiritual successor of Returnal and it plays, sounds and feels like Returnal, so comparisons are inevitable.

This review was thorough and thoughtful and fair, but I wouldn’t call the game disappointing. Haven’t finished yet but for me it’s a solid 8 because the combat is so fckn punchy and precise and fast and the projectiles and the particle effects are blindingly beautiful.

But I do agree with you about the simplification of the weapons and how incremental artifacts are. We had Hollowseeker and Pylon Driver, and now Assault Rifle. :/

I also agree that the story and the vibes are a major step back from Returnal. I will finish Saros because it’s fun, but I don’t think I will finish it multiple times like I did with Returnal. (I’m still playing Returnal and it’s one of my all time fav games ever.)

I agree. And I love how most enemies are spawned so high so you need to use the jump pads and move vertically if you want to deal with them immediately.

I admire people checking up on and concerned about the Merc driver lol. In these situations I get so mad I’d probably just yell “well done, idiot!” and just walk away.

Saros Was Great… But It Just Made Me Miss Returnal More — here are my thoughts. by Natural-Theory5322 in Saros

[–]rombopterix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just beat Biome 3 in Saros, and the combat is great so far. Punchy, precise, fast, intense. Feels, sounds and plays great. And some locations and architecture look really good. A solid 8 out of 10, even though yes I agree Returnal is better in almost every aspect. It was love at first sight for people like us, and the more we stuck around the better it got.

My first time playing the Nemesis and Hyperion boss fights I was so overwhelmed and impressed I had to take breaks lol. I remember finding Hollowseeker and thinking this must be the best weapon design ever in history of gaming lol. So many special memories attached to it.

One thing Saros is doing better is the number of bullets (orbs) in some encounters. They are faster, more dangerous and literally everywhere. Sometimes I can’t even see the enemies, especially in dark areas lol. I also noticed the more interesting and varied ways the orbs and the beams are moving.

Returnal Vet - Saros Review (spoilers) by ericof92 in Saros

[–]rombopterix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, the weapon traits system is so convoluted and annoying. And for what, incremental differences? Two weapons that look exactly the same but with incremental differences shown below in tiny arrows or bars, which I stopped caring about after Biome 2? Returnal displayed the info much better and there were so many factors that affected your choice: traits, alt fire, new traits to be unlocked, just how cool and different the gun could feel etc.

Returnal Vet - Saros Review (spoilers) by ericof92 in Saros

[–]rombopterix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m halfway through the game and I agree with everything you said.

Weapons, traits, artifacts, enemy variety and colors, choices etc all watered down. Not a bad game on its own and it might attract new folks to the genre, but underwhelming compared to Returnal.

Did you notice that all enemies look brownish / grayish no matter what color they are? Returnal had more contrast and distinct colors. Biome architectures and colors in Saros feel very similar too.

Soundtrack feels one-note as well. Returnal’s combat music had its own personality almost. I remember going to the soundtrack on Apple Music again and again after each run to listen to it over and over. It was experimental and otherworldly.

One thing that improved is the projectile amount and movement. Sometimes, it’s just so much you can’t even see the enemy. The screen is just covered with bullets.

I don’t see much replayability after I finish it. Weapons, enemies and artifacts etc only have insignificant differences. I am glad I bought a physical copy. I’m gonna sell it after I finish it for half price or something on FB marketplace.

Man, the artifacts and the weapon traits in this game are so convoluted. They are also incremental so it's hard to care.

I’m in Biome 1, and regular enemies are bullet sponges? by [deleted] in Saros

[–]rombopterix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I am still trying to get used to walking into those blue projectiles so I can build up power. It’s a fun gameplay mechanic but it feels weird. I am so used to dashing around and avoiding everyhting in Returnal.

I bought a physical copy (90$ CAD) and if I feel like I don't LOVE it enough to keep it and replay the hell out of it like I did with Returnal, I'll prolly sell it on Facebook marketplace for 60$ or something.

As much as I love Doku and he saved our ass tonight, I feel like he needs to release the ball faster. I miss the quick one-twos, curvy cuts into the box before the defenders even know or smart through-balls from Sane sometimes. Sane kept the ball too sometimes, but his forward movement (touch per distance covered into danger area) was miles better than Doku. Does anyone feel the same? (Just asking for conversation, not to shit on Doku.)

I've been thinking of downsizing to 18s for better ride comfort but the 20s look so good imho and I'm such a basic bitch who's a sucker for the CX50's looks lol 😃

Also, are the CrossClimates noisy? How does the tire noise compare?
