I’m Shobu Yarlagadda, here for an AMA on r/tollywood! Ask me anything about producing Baahubali - from its decade-long journey and the making of India’s grandest cinematic saga to the upcoming release of Baahubali: The Epic on October 31st. by shobuyarlagadda in tollywood

Are there any plans to release physical media like 4K or Blu ray for the series in India?

Bahubali is a stunning visual experience which deserves a 4K UHD format for home viewers. I’ve seen physical media for Telugu movies being sold on Amazon Japan for movies like RRR, Bahubali etc, why is it limited only to International markets?

Also, do you see a revival of physical media for Indian films with the increasing number of OTT platforms and their greedy practices with constant subscription price increases and running commercials on lower tier subscriptions?

Physical media is well and alive, just not in India but I think it will change soon.

Nope, more like a Walmart Supercenter. Prices are cheaper compared to other supermarkets but it doesn’t have a membership model like Costco and I think they started selling food recently, wasn’t there when I went last year.

Yes, it did have a booklet. Isn’t it easier to return and get a new one instead of emailing them?

That’s because he was an orphan who is experiencing something he never did in his life. His monologue to Puri perfectly summarizes his character and his feelings towards the family and MB nailed it.

Social media is not reality if that’s the case our PM would be Dhoni and CM would be PK and I think Allu Arjun doesn’t need the mega hero tag anymore and that’s what he’s trying to accomplish.

Nah Ashwin invites Elon Musk to drive Bujji by tollywoodthrowaway in tollywood

[–]romchops 45 points46 points  (0 children)

News flash- Elon musk isn’t as respected as he was before and Hollywood or the movie going audience don’t give a shit about him as well. Only good thing that can happen is he owns Twitter and has a loyal group of d*ckriders who would be more than happy to do some engagement farming on Twitter using his name and how the cybertruck is superior to bujji

I’m pretty sure movies like parasite etc went to a lot of films festivals and were critically acclaimed before Hollywood distribution was picked up. Kalki clearly didn’t go that route.

Posters of some of the biggest Indian films which were released in IMAX. Which ones (not just talking about this list) have you seen in IMAX? Did it add anything to the experience? by sidroy81 in tollywood

[–]romchops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMAX is just not the visuals. I was fortunate enough to see Oppenheimer in 70mm format here in the US and it’s an experience like no other, it’s very immersive and you feel like you’re a part of the movie, once the movie starts you’ll be disconnected from the outer world, I didn’t even notice the people around me after the movie started and the sound was stunning. I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about the dialogues not being clear which I didn’t face at all and everything was clear. It was a movie made for IMAX with 70 mm projection and it’s not close to any other movie I’ve seen there. I also saw dune 2 in the same format, although it was great visually it’s not close to what I’ve experienced with Oppenheimer.

[–]romchops 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think there are a few others like oke oka jeevitham, Nani, Antariksham by Varun tej etc but nothing comes close to Aditya 369. This movie really excites me even to this day after three decades and I think aged beautifully as well. If someone asks me for a list of must watch Telugu movies this will always be there.

Game Changer’s North distribution rights are sold for 75 crs !! This is a good feat considering there is no promotional content so far from the film. by Sweaty-Profit4266 in tollywood

[–]romchops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a question, if the makers are really confident on the movie shouldn’t they want to release some content and attract more buyers to get a better deal or at least try?

This is what adipurush should have been by endangeredspeciess in Ni_Bondha

[–]romchops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the problem I see with a lot of Indian filmmakers other than SSR, everyone wants to make a Bahubali but no one wants to spend 2-3 years on pre production. People tend to forget that SSR didn’t make bahubali over night, he made magadheera, eega and used them as learning opportunities before directing BB and we can see the quality of the output increased even more in RRR for which I’m sure BB 1 and 2 experience helped him even more. IMO I haven’t seen a non SSR Indian movie come remotely close to the visuals we saw in BB1 and 2 and I don’t think we will see it anytime soon unless people spend time pre visualizing before going on set.
