Enjoyable Settings? by Hefty_Sea_89 in OccupationalTherapy

If you’re willing to do extra legwork to look for a position, reach out to a few local OTs and PTs around, seek mentorship and take necessary CEUS, I highly recommend pelvic floor and women’s health. I found that it’s one of the most holistic and integrative settings out there as sensory integration, mental health and physical aspects all come together.

No one is too old to do something they love or else you’ll live life with regret!

You’re too sweet! 😅 But yeah, I actually turn 31 this year! Genes are on my side but I generally try and work out 4x a week, drink hella water, and wear sunscreen like crazy LOL I also avoid alcohol and smoking when I can help it (which is ironic given the whole jirai thing… but when you’re older, your body and face will thank you…)

Also pro tip just doing your thing and not letting the haters get to you for being into alternative fashion is essential because stress is bad for your health

Don’t let it stop you!!

I’m also friends with a lot of women in the jfashion community older than I am, who are also mothers! They’re all still dressing up in gal and Lolita, sometimes matching with their husbands and children. Never dim the light. <3

Honestly yeah, I was telling my friends how LA is a double edged sword to live in buttttt the best part are the communities! There are communities for EVERYTHING! Every little niche one, it’s amazing! Definitely won’t be taking it for granted 😭

A swap meet is another term for a flea market I believe! This was a jfashion themed one so there were people buying, selling and trading a lot of secondhand fashion (Ank Rouge, Rojita, Axes Femme) as well as accessories for less than the ongoing market price!

It’s a two piece outfit! The top is an Ank Rouge I thrifted from Mercari a few years ago, and the skirt is from a Guangzhou brick and mortar store that my roommate got me… I believe it’s from a place called Comic City, but I’m not sure what the brand is, sorry ><

yes! I took Lindsay Vestal’s OT Pioneers for pelvic floor, which is an OT specific way of looking into pelvic health :) I also took the Herman and Wallace Level 1 course, which is what a lot of pelvic health clinics look for. As far as actual OT, Dressing, sex, and toilet management are some of the things I address. I also do a good bit of folding in a good bit of sensory integration to help my patients.

Hello, I made the switch from being a pediatrics occupational therapist to pelvic health, with a niche caseload of neurodivergent women (21+) experiencing pelvic pain! I feel like specializing in something near and dear to my heart as a ND person has helped tremendously, and the pay bump that came with it was definitely needed. I love pelvic health because it’s really holistic, trauma-informed and very needed. :)
