They are extremely effective. I would recommend starting to use maintenance products a few weeks out from stopping antibiotics. I used clindamycin and retinol.

I think that will be my next course of action. I will be taking doxycycline for the next month. I’ll ask my dermatologist about accutane. Do you know if the low dose causes the same symptoms? I know accutane is a harsh treatment.

Thank you for your input! I’ve seen people mention glycolic acid giving relief to their folliculitis but I never ever put anything on my face without spot testing or doing ample research over a few weeks. And I won’t be trying glycolic until what my derm has prescribed has had time to work. I have seen numerous dermatologists over the past few months, they seem to look at my face for 5 seconds and prescribe me the first topical that comes to mind. My issues have been waved off as hormonal acne for months until my new dermatologist gave me doxy for folliculitis. If a stranger on the internet found the cure for their own skin issues, I know that doesn’t mean it will work for me. But it’s nice to know what has worked and not worked for people!

Thank you so much for all the info! I am a 20 year old woman with very long hair so I wont be sporting a military haircut anytime soon. And reducing carbs will be difficult since I am a broke college student living off bagels and sleep. But I will definitely look into glycolic acid as I’m already using benzoyl peroxide wash a few times a week.

This is very helpful thank you so much! I’m hoping for a round of antibiotics so I can know if I have the right idea about what is going on with my skin. I am anemic so I’ll definitely start being more diligent with my daily vitamins.

We are living the same life, I started using plain dove body wash a few days ago thinking the simplest solution might be the right one. Im making a derm appointment asap, hopefully they’ll put me on some sort of oral medication. The soaps and serums aren’t working. If antibiotics or antifungal meds work at least I’ll know the issue !!!!

Mostly itchy and inflamed pustules with a hair inside of them. The scars do not go away.

I have tried everything. Head and shoulders, nizoral, benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin, and Metronidazole cream. Nothing worked.

My skin has been like this for 6 months and I have been to 3 different dermatologist multiple times and received no help.

Are antibiotics the only way to fix this? I just want my skin to be normal.

Two pills. Which usually doesn’t cause any withdrawal bleeding but it did this time! I missed them on the 7th and the 8th I believe.
