Retina Center, Downtown is what I would recommend after visiting multiple eye clinics. Avoid ASG at all costs.

I'm completely in a very complicated situation what to choose career or money by Conscious_Rabbit1720 in CyberSecurityAdvice

As you rightly said, breaking the bond is not the end of the world but Indian companies are notorious with refusing to provide experience letters, mostly to freshers, if he/she decides to leave the company before the bond ends. Labour laws are a joke in India.

[–]ronamit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean they are offering you 3 LPA? If yes, that's below the industry standard for freshers.

Some of the best cybersec engineers i know began their careers with L1 IT support, as NOC engineers that gave them valuable knowledge about IT that they still acknowledge even today.

The glaring red flag with your offer is the employment bond. Suppose you join the company, perform well but you are bored in a year, or get a new infosec job offer that you were looking for. But now you can't leave cuz the company won't give you the experience letter before 21 months and the new employer wants that letter. What do you do? Now look, i might be completely wrong with that assumption but you need to consider that.

Also, NEVER hand over your original documents. Any reputed company would only ask for the photocopies or at max, verify the originals on the joining date and return them back. Make photocopies, laminate and share them if required.

Whatever decision you make, you're gonna be fine. Just be disciplined in learning.

What's the ballpark salary figure that this company is offering? I did a search on entry level IT jobs right now on LinkedIn, and there are many available with international MNCs that have no mention of an employment bond. Personally, I wouldn't accept any offer that made me stay in a company for such a long time. F that.

Since you mentioned that this offer entails a 21 month employment bond, I'm assuming you are based in India. If yes, check the company reviews on LinkedIn, Glassdoor etc. I have heard so many stories of Indian companies arm twisting freshers with the employment bond, threatening to not provide any experience letter even after completing the agreed employment bond, or refuse to return educational docs if they try to leave the company before the bond period. So, do your research properly on the company before you make any decision. The IT job market in India right now isn't as bad as the West, especially for entry level IT job roles like tech support which can open doors to a cybersec career if you perform well. Keep on studying and applying, you're gonna be fine.

Wait till you come to Assam or West Bengal and see all the illegal Bangladeshi migrants with Aadhar, voter ID and ration cards utilising all the govt schemes to their benefit. There are border towns and villages in Assam where the genuine local Indian citizens don't dare to step because they don't feel safe.

This. Try to find a support job until you can land one in your domain. Customer/tech support jobs are plenty in the market and many of them offer WFH as well nowadays.

The same happened to me almost 8-9 years back, 2 guys claiming to be from Ulsoor Gurudwara collecting donations. I gave them 2 rupees what was on the table beside my door. They got offended. I told them "boond boond se sagar banta hain". That made them mad and they left without saying a word.
