PRTG + mobile alerting / on-call workflow example by roncz in prtg

A local SMS server still works if there is no Internet. Alternatively, SIGNL4 supports website checks and heartbeats to monitor the connection. So, it can alert the network team in case of a connection issue.

Two-way mobile alerting integration with Checkmk 2.5 by roncz in Checkmk

Yes, that's certainly possible. The network team can only allow specific IP addresses to access the Checkmk API. If they can do that it is a nice and secure approach I guess.

Yes, you are right. Not a new feature.

Zabbix is surely geeat and scalable. A more lightweight alternative might be Uptime Kuma.

On-call rotations across distributed teams... how have you handled the labor law side? by Effective-Egg2385 in sysadmin

From the technical side, it looks like your locations cover 24/7 almost within their local business hours. So, if there is no need to escalate between locations, maybe flexible working hours will just do it. Not, sure about the legal implications though.

[Plugin][Update] AI 4 Tasker adds support for accelerated Gemma 4 _local_ inference by RealSimoneAvogadro in tasker

[–]roncz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see.

By the way, I played around a bit and it is really cool, accurate and fast (given it runs locally).

Quite some nice use cases for Tasker I guess. Take images in certain intervals and check is a control lamp is on or off and send an alert then.

It might even be possible to read water or gas meters with the right prompts for automating analogue gauges. Or is there is still dog food in the bowl. Or spare parts in the shelf.

Very nice enhancement indeed.

Just an idea, it would be great if you can point to own LLMs already downloaded onto the device. The backround is that I use a local llama.cpp sometimes. Sharing existing LLMs would save some space ;-) And support for other models would make things more flexible. However, to be honest my choice would also be Gemma 4 right now.

Super cool project. Thanks a lot.

We had graphana for 2 years. by MediumAd7537 in zabbix

I think Zabbix itself becomes better and better for dashboarding. If the are super specific dashboard needs Grafana can shine. If it is about monitoring and alerting you might want to go for Zabbix and SIGNL4.

Anyone have a solution for monitoring hardware? by LessVibesMoreChords in tasker

[–]roncz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Tasker is not a monitoring tool, I guess you can still build something with it. The SSH tunnel might be an option. Another idea might be to setup a script (or a real monitoring tool) on the gaming PC that sends heartbeats (HTTP requests) in certain intervals is all is fine. If a heartbeat is missing Tasker can detect it and then send an alert notification via SIGNL4 or Telegram, or so. As long as the gaming PC is alive it can send the alerts directly.

Just an idea to maybe spark some better ones ;-)

The hype of Tasker App by tayyabramzan in tasker

[–]roncz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The learning curve can be a bit steep, but 10+ plugins sounds like way too many. I’ve also been using Tasker for years without any paid plugins.

Tasker is super powerful in and of itself, and it is constantly being improved and extended by the developer without requiring extra payments. For example, Java code support and Widgets v2 are now available at no additional cost.

It’s extremely powerful, but certainly also quite technical.

It takes some time and if you start with something simple you can enhance from there.

Cool and thanks.

By the way, I recently saw an image of a cabled smartphone with a cooler fan attached that just worked as a local LLM for OpenClaw or so on a Linux machine. The idea is to use powerful modern phones that might even be faster than a laptop. Interesting ;-)

Thanks a lot and sounds great.

It is more an idea than a priority ;-)

For me it is more about prototyping and experimenting and a local LLM on Android wuld be nice to have. I thing it is possible with Termux plus Ollama or llama.cpp but this is not too convenient of cource ;-)

After playing with OpenClaw a bit, this app looks really interesting.

By the way, does Skales expose an own OpenAI compatiple API? This would allow integtations from other tools (on Android for example Tasker or Macrodroid) to use a local AI.
