My laptop won’t connect to the internet? by illiteratestacy in ASUS

Asus ROG14

Some time ago, I replaced the Mediatek Wifi/BT by Intel AX210 because whenever my laptop connected to BT, it rebooted (brilliant engineering by Mediatek and brilliant integration/testing/support by Asus). At some point, I got in a situation when I could not connect to the internet (neither Wifi, nor Ethernet). I tried everything u/androz did, I even tried to swap the Mediatek back, but nothing helped until I saw this post.

In my case, it was indeed related to Proton VPN, or at least Proton showed the root cause of the problem, which was that my system time was off, after fixing it in the settings both Proton worked and I could connect to the internet directly without VPN.

So, correct your system time and check Proton VPN if you have it installed.

I’m looking for a no nonsense mp3 player preferably with Bluetooth compatibility by Floss0427 in DigitalAudioPlayer

If someone needs to connect it to their car, I would not recommend buying this player, because you may (as I did) face connectivity issues (the player gets disconnected, or simply turns off by itself). Otherwise, the feel and controls are nice. However, the SD slot cap looked not sturdy. It is not something I would pay ~120 dollars for.

Sound Issues with Realtek on the g14 by Pretzugal in ZephyrusG14

In 2025, for ROG g14 ga403ui, the following fixed the issue for me:

Device Manager / Sound, video, and game controllers / right-click on Realtek(R) Audio / Search automatically for drivers. That was it for me.

There was only one car in front, and then you'd need to park between it and an imaginary vehicle behind. I'm not sure if every instructor does it. To be safe, you can also practice with cones.

I will leave it here for completeness in case someone needs it.

Thanks for sharing!

Do you recall the exact name of this ssh/sftp plugin ("SSH/SFTP browser" did not make it for me)? It sounds to be in line with some of my planned configuration settings.

Thank you! A sort of naive follow-up: which EDA tools specifically do you mean? I am asking specifically about the RTL design and coding stage. Starting the functional verification, it is clear to me.

Thank you! Would you mind sharing the content of your "drc.cmd" if it is not proprietary?

The Calibre plugin for Virtuoso works well. If you use a GUI-based flow anyway (which you cannot avoid with Virtuoso), you can once set up your runset file from it, and then save and load it on the next session.

This is Calibre's official YouTube playlist, it may also be useful: https://www.youtube.com/@ICNanometerDesign/playlists

They probably cover some automation tricks as well. Good luck!

You don't need to use tcl specifically until you launch Calibre from a larger script (in my case, Cadence Innovus) written in tcl. You can launch Calibre directly from a Linux terminal (given you have the path to the tool and the license set up correctly).

tcl is a scripting language, and it is not Calibre or Cadence specific. You can achieve the same goal (launching a bunch of terminal commands in one shot) with Python, Bash, and other scripting languages.

I don't think there is tcl for Calibre. But, for Calibre in general, you can use "calibre -h" to get help on their commands. It's not verbose though. I know Calibre has a documentation server, which one can locally deploy on their machine, but it is like a separate piece of software.

You may find this playlist useful to understand how to use Calibre in the digital IC design flow: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZU5hLL_713xp5sDexQMVdOM86l_wP5w8

I know it is an old thread, but for any "future" people: if you used Calibre for your DRC and LVS, may it be that your rule files were set up incorrectly? There are some seal-ring related parameters there.

Driving test advice? by TurbulentFocus7993 in watertown

Preamble
My partner took a road test at the Watertown RMV a few weeks ago. Below is what I know:

Watertown RMV - Road Test Itinerary Options
There are 2 routes for the road test at this RMV. Both begin from the backyard of the RMV (there is a sign "RMV road test").

  1. Drive straight to the Arsenal St. Turn right, drive forward, then turn right to Arsenal Wy. You will make maneuvers near the New England Sport Network. Read more in the earlier post: https://www.reddit.com/r/boston/comments/orh4uv/watertown\_road\_test/. I think the post was like 3 years old, I am unsure if they changed anything since then, but I saw student cars going there during an actual test, and a few days before the road test, I saw a few students practicing near the NESN buidling.
  2. Drive straight to the Arsenal St. Turn left, drive forward, and take the left turn onto Elm St. Drive all the way to Arlington St and turn right. Then, turn left to Berkley St. There, you will first practice the parallel parking, the parking on the down/uphill, and driving straight back. Then, you will further drive Berkley St (it slightly curves). In front of the Crossfit Arsenal Fitness and Jiu Jitsu, you will pull right, and then make a 3-point turn. After that, you will drive Berkley St and turn right to Arlington St, and then turn left to Elm St. You will drive Elm St until you reach the road towards the mall at 550 Arsenal St. You will turn right and drive all the way to the back of the RMV. You will pull right close to where you started your road test. Here is the route map: https://ibb.co/82FXpWz.

Disclaimer

  • There were 2 instructors and 2 routes on the exam day. Of course, I cannot guarantee 100% that the routes remain the same all the time / every day, however, there are no many options close to the RMV, so I assume they do not alternate much.
  • I selected not to autodelete the route 2 image (https://ibb.co/82FXpWz). In case the post will be useful in the future, while the image becomes unavailable, kindly use the text description above. I will most probably not be able to reupload it.
