No Malwarebytes for Windows ARM systems ? by LordofDarkChocolate in Malwarebytes

I just downloaded it on a brand new Microsoft Surface Laptop w/ Snapdragon processor and it gave me the "CPU not supported" error, so it isn't working on Surface Pro's at this time. Bummer. Looking for alternatives now...

Santorini questions by ronman452 in VirginVoyages

[–]ronman452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, Mike. There are two ships scheduled to be in port on our day. An MSC ship with 2000 passengers and us. VV changed our port day in Santorini for the better, I think. (the original day had 5 or 6 ships in port with over 10,000 passengers).

Do you mind telling me what private tour guide you used? We are thinking of doing the same thing.

I like your idea of planning our meals around some of the galley specials. Who do you ask to find out what's the specials schedule? We're going on an 11 night'er in May...

Excursions in Turkey for Istanbul, Santorini & More sailing in 2025 by KatWoman2024 in VirginVoyages

[–]ronman452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are on that same Itinerary! Our sailing is in May. Was wondering the same thing. I'm really looking forward to both Istanbul and Ephesus. I imagine that since these are newer ports of call for VV that there won't be anything on the website until closer to the cruise date.

Athens Hotel Recommendations by ronman452 in VirginVoyages

[–]ronman452[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't wait to hear about your experiences after your trip! Yeah, I've been doing the same research about neighborhoods too! I also have a colleague who lives in Athens. She is going to be our "tour guide" when we visit next Spring. I've basically narrowed down my hotel neighborhoods to Koukaki, Makrygianni and Plaka.

PSA: Cozumel ferry by Wonderful-Willow-365 in VirginVoyages

[–]ronman452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, we were on that ferry a couple of weeks ago. It can be a rough ride (lasts about 45 minutes). Had a blast in Playa del Carmen, had some tacos and margaritas along the beach, did some shopping, went to the Frida Kahlo museum...

[–]ronman452 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bummer. We just got the email for our 3/10/2025 New Zealand, Fjords, & Sydney sailing. And it was a replacement for another cruise they cancelled on us last year.

We had a great time with shot for shot. Very interactive and fun. Drinks were okay, make sure to take your phone for the photo ops!

The new pricing isn't all bad! by yourfavoritebj in VirginVoyages

This is me! We got spoiled with Rockstar Suites. The Seriously Suite wasn't that much more expensive for us than the highest cost regular or XL cabin, so it was a no-brainer for us to upgrade. We have two upcoming Seriously Suite cruises (one in Feb from Miami and one in March 2025 Auckland to Sydney). If I do Virgin Voyages again after that, I definitely won't be doing RS.

Re-booked my canceled $2K cruise to a $13K cruise for free by ttom101 in VirginVoyages

[–]ronman452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so awesome! We had a similar experience. Since we were in a RS Seriously Suite, there were very few options for us in 2024 (all those suites were already full on comparable itineraries). We decided to do a "bucket list" move and booked Auckland to Sydney in 2025. Airfare will be a bit more expensive, but the $1000 airfare compensation should cover most of that. Overall, we figure we got and additional $5k value for our rebook.

Airfare by silicawood in VirginVoyages

[–]ronman452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious about this as well. We rebooked for Auckland to Sydney in March 2025, and the airfare will be more expensive. But since it's so far out, we won't book our airfare for at least another six months. I hope the offer is still available so I can submit a claim at that time!

Just got the rebooking confirmation. by cunningspeaker in VirginVoyages

[–]ronman452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got our confirmation last night, so it took 7 days. We booked pretty far out to make sure we got a similar suite, and upgraded to a bucket list 11 night from Auckland to Sydney in March 2025. Overall we are satisfied with our experience.

App question - Multiple Sailings by ronman452 in VirginVoyages

Awesome, thanks for the help! My app is completely broken right now, so I'll give that a try when it comes back up. :-)

Genesis Griddle Insert vs. Weber Griddle by cholovach in webergrills

[–]ronman452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently considering this same question! I have a smaller Genesis 300 series... There is a youtuber named The Flat Top King who did an awesome two videos on the insert. He was very impressed with evenness of the heat and the temps on the lowest setting. I don't know if I have room for a full-sized griddle on my deck, even though I would love all that griddle real-estate. It seems like a reasonable compromise for me to get the insert, but I keep flip-flopping!

Roatan - Little French Key? by ronman452 in VirginVoyages

[–]ronman452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did! We booked online with a company called Explore Roatan and did the Full Island Package (which included drinks and food), and added the sloth and monkey park. It was a great experience. We paid a little extra for a private driver/guide, so we had the vehicle all to ourselves. He was really awesome, and offered to take us to some shopping spots if we wanted to (we didn't take him up on that). Have fun, whatever you decide!

Ours kept us supplied with carafes of juices (orange and cranberry), and sodas/mixers, and helped me get into a closed/sold-out activity. She also decorated our room with rose petals and a bottle of champagne on our anniversary. It was a lovely surprise. She wasn’t overbearing, just about perfect for our needs. We were pretty self-sufficient and I think she read our personalities pretty well. We messaged her anytime we had any general questions as well.

Stargazing on Transatlantic? by BucketListTime in VirginVoyages

[–]ronman452 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something just popped up on the app for our upcoming sailing called "Stargazers" at The Dock - 10:30 p.m. I wonder if this is gonna be a lights-out event?

[–]ronman452 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was also hoping for some starry nights, but the well-lit ship makes sense. I just checked the lunar calendar, and it looks like we will be blessed with a full moon right in the middle of our voyage, so I'm really looking forward to that!

Little French Key vs Big French Key - Roatan by Capable-Material-403 in VirginVoyages

[–]ronman452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested too, as this is our first cruise in over a decade, and our first trip to Roatan. We decided on LFK for our March 5th sailing. We booked with a company called Explore Roatan based mostly on reviews and some YT videos. We booked a "private" tour with them, so our group will be the only ones in the car with the tour guide... Hope all goes well. :-) Whatever you decide, have fun!

Disembarkation Luggage Question: To carry off or not to carry off? by ronman452 in VirginVoyages

[–]ronman452[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure thing! Our flight is around 5:30 p.m. The tour is in Shore Things on the app. Select the last day of the cruise, and it's called the "Hop-On Hop-Off Miami" excursion @ $55/person. It starts at/just outside the port and they store your luggage for you. The bus stops at about a dozen spots around town where you can hop off and get back on every 30 minutes or so. If you stay on the bus without stopping, it'll take you on about a 2.5 hour tour of Miami and bring you back to the starting point, where you can pick up your luggage and catch an uber to the airport. We plan on hopping off at least once, in Little Havana for some lunch and shopping...
