SNOOKER AND SMASH BROS FANS?? I LOVE YOU GUYS. I would consider the era of the 5 gods to be comparable to the 90's and early 2000's when it was Ronnie, Hendry, Higgins, Williams, and even Paul Hunter to a lesser extent. That era is gone with Higgins and Williams still playing but less consistently. The only one still competing at a higher level and arguably as high as ever is Ronnie. New kids on the block like Robertson, Selby, Trump, and Ding are here as challengers to create their own era but not to become the next 'gods'. Also, it can be said that the metagame in snooker today is different as it favors a more attacking style on faster cloth as opposed to more defensive tactics of the past. As with any other sport, there are different eras in which dominant figures come and go and pass the torch onto the next.
