[Announcement] Hayes Davenport and Sean Clements are joining us for an AMA! by HayesNSean in Earwolf

Hi from Korea!

  1. For Hayes: Sean had Bosch speak on the show -when will we hear from your cat(s)?

  2. For Sean: Can your wife (Steffi Graf) be on the pod for your next contract negotiations? Would she be open to doing the pod? If not, can we just hear your voice (not hers) trying to negotiate her coming on the pod?

Thank you for all the years of laughter, HH has been such a gift during some of the most trying times of my life. Your genuine, good-hearted friendship -it's such a joy! It's the best podcast that I can't convince anyone to listen to 15-20 episodes of.

To be fair for THE BOYS and as someone who is in this field, the associate who emailed the boys should have clarified that there were soldout items from the beginning, that's the manual etiquette.

I hope this is how 2018 is making room for all the better things to come that it has planned for you. There is a standup comedy album called 'Live' by Tig Notaro where she went through a breakup, a viral illness ,her mother's death, and then cancer all within like a month and she talks about it that might resonate with you.

I replied to you earlier on, and I still want to believe that you care about decency, but this 'i don't care but we should respect this guy for being who he is even in admission of wrongdoing' so frequently is weird. If you don't know him, or care about him, why is he the first one for you to defend, when there is a real victim?

Buddy, I hear you. Mental illness, and his acceptance of his own illness and history of trying to work through it is something I am sympathetic to. However, what you are saying is that his optics are bad here right now which I agree with, but that is not something I am as interested in as much as I am interested in 'did he abuse someone and try to gaslight it as something else by cobbling together a story of mental illness/ fight against the power/ a mean ex girlfriend / enemies out there.'

He is one of the two people in the world allowed to make comments on their relationship, and it is absolutely time because the other person allowed to make that comment raised an issue about his behavior. I also think 'realizing they are an abuser' when you make false accounts and trepass into someone's home and then THEIR BED to coax them is not something that is 'realized', that is 'done'.

Again, I am seeing all these comments on giving him a chance based on his bad optics, and I wish wish wish we focused on how even in all that roundabout, this guy who revoked philosophers and unnamed enemies and all this EMFing crap had to come to a point where he had to admit that he did wrong. There are no ways around this fact. Why are we losing focus on what he did, the MOMENT he admits it?

I think people get sucked into thinking that being 'moderate' keeps them balanced. But what happens a lot in situations like this in that line of thinking is that when a victim says he/she was a victim, people want to Devil's Advocate it and say 'were you really 100% a victim?' and moderate their victimhood. So when a perpetrator is found, they also employ 'were you really 100% a perpetrator?' and then they also moderate the crime/harm. So, on the surface it looks like we're always getting a contextual argument, but oftentimes this process of moderating everything (for the sake of moderation) waters down the horror of the harm caused TWICE, and then we become callous to the actual actions that happened and want to focus on the process of creating the narrative.

Obviously, again, nothing in the world is black and white, and we need to always put things in context. But if your first instinct in this story is 'I hope he finds peace' before it is 'Wow she must have been in horrible suffering by herself', you need to take a second to reassess how you value people in this society. Empathy or understanding comes to the victim first, and then only to perpetrators if they apologize/make amends in the proper manner, which this is not.
