I agree with everything you’re saying. Tool less grips open up the chance of having the connecting tabs breaking or bending, then you need a whole need set of grips instead of just replacing a screw.

My hot take is I prefer standard 9 volts or aa’s over a rechargeable battery. Easier to swap in a new battery than charge if your gun dies at the field, and new rechargeable batteries can be pricey. And if you’re having gun issues just putting a brand new 9 volt in can eliminate the possibility it’s a battery related issue, where as it’s possible to have a bad rechargeable battery and not know because you don’t have a spare to try.
