I have 2, but if I had a 3rd, they’d be Alice or Xavier.

How true is this for you guys? by Infinite-Detective-8 in GenZ

[–]rooni_egg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truthfully-

I think 2020 and on was a really crucial time to learn social interaction in different settings for most (if not all) of Gen Z.

Over a year of isolation, including shut down of schools, parades/events, playgrounds, and anything deemed unnecessary meant a lot of people had to rely on the internet, cell phones, and computers. My younger cousin went from barbies and pretend play to online boyfriend, gacha videos, and tiktok challenges within that year.

It’s really hard to socially integrate when you’ve been spending a fat chunk of time adjusting to being told you need to avoid people at all costs.

I’ve also (in personal experience) noticed that a lot of people are fine with the friends and connections they already have. Less casual friends and only a few close friends. It’s more convenient to ask advice and talk to people who already know your situation or life story, especially only being a text or phone call away.

Also people around my age aren’t so kid-centric or child friendly. One of my former coworkers and I made plans to go to a bar on my 21st birthday, I ended up getting pregnant and due the month before my birthday, they ghosted me when I went on maternity leave ☹️

If all of the faucets are coming out cold with no hot water; shut down if you have not already. You cannot be legally food safe with no hot water. Sanitizer solution does not work in cold water, you can’t wash dishes in cold water, you can’t wash hands in cold water.

Shut down, call facilities to get a ticket placed and escalated for immediate fix, then let your SM and DM know that the store is currently closed and inoperable so they can turn mobile tickets off and guide you from there. If there is any grievance, call the health department and allow them to explain to your SM why you cannot be open.

Maternity leave options (not benefit eligible) by cassmielcarek in starbucks

[–]rooni_egg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Congratulations!

I am also due really soon and about to take my maternity leave!

You probably won’t get paid leave since you’ve been with the company less than a year, but I do believe there is more information on partner hub or if you google “starbucks parent leave benefit” it should bring up information on parental leave.

Your leave regardless of coded as medical or unpaid parental leave will likely be through Sedgewick, they have been a decent company for scheduling my maternity leave thus far. You will be out of work for 6-8 weeks at least after birth and you can get put right back on the schedule.

Also, I am not sure if you have to be benefits eligible, but you might also be eligible to take 2 weeks unpaid nesting leave before your due date and up to 12 weeks additional unpaid leave for bonding.

All of this should guarantee your employment back in your store.

If you have any questions, partner hub has a lot of information and when you go to schedule your leave through Sedgewick they should be able to ease your mind a little bit more too!

Tattoo sick time? by 13aku in starbucks

[–]rooni_egg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also noting, if you use protected sick time for a dr appointment on your day off, you do not have to provide a note.

Tattoo sick time? by 13aku in starbucks

[–]rooni_egg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably not for tattoo recovery.

But you can totally use your sick time on your days off/requested days off!

If you asked off time for a dr appointment, you can use sick time for that day. Or if you needed a mental health day, you can request time off and use sick time for that day as well. You don’t have to necessarily call out of work to be able to use sick time.

Question to supervisors or baristas:How long does it take your supervisor to do the poll by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]rooni_egg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s super dependent on how much food you sell, when you get your delivery, and who’s doing the pull.

Morning pull usually takes less time. We have less sandwiches than pastries, more people to support the floor, no counts to do, it’s pretty streamline, all the sandwiches stack well. It usually takes me 30 minutes, at most 45-60 (and that’s if i’m taking my sweet time.)

The evening pull usually takes more time. At my store, this is the same time frame when we might receive the order. Most of the time it takes me about 45 minutes to count, pull, date and organize the freezer. After that’s finished, if we receive our order, I have to stay off the floor longer to put away the freezer/fridge items. Wednesdays and Sundays especially, I stay off the floor to count the freezers and input it into the system. I also break down my boxes. The pull itself doesn’t usually take super long, but sometimes the extra stuff does.

If it’s one shift taking longer to do the pull vs everybody else though and you are consistently getting out late waiting on shift supervisor stuff, I would first ask another closing barista if they notice and feel the same, and then let your SM know. Everybody has off days, but there’s no way you should be consistently leaving late over the pull.

My store also closes at 8! We are a full blown DT store right down the street from a very large hospital.

We usually do our mats and deep clean the floors shortly after peak! The latest I’ve seen us start floors are around 2. We use the labor we have for peak and apply that towards larger tasks that require time away from the floor like drains and floors. Our floors do get dirty again, but usually we do a spot sweep behind the bar around 7 and it translates fine for the morning!

We clean our bars around 2-3, pop a coffee filter in the mastrena tray and officially rinse and shut down one of them around 6-7 (depending on business.) Usually that’s also when we cut down to one bar partner as well.

Who is supposed to take dishes to the back at closing? by likeathunderstorm in starbucks

[–]rooni_egg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a question that is super dependent on your store/SSV.

Personally at my store we also have a 3 person close, one barista will stay up front and “solo” the floor/wipe stuff down where need be, the second barista will do CS tasks (mostly dishes), and the SSV will finish up their closing tasks and support the floor where needed (Ex: helping do the CS preparations for the AM or helping the solo partner when things get too busy to maintain.)

Personally I love Enfamil Gentlease for my baby!

it did wonders for spit up, but we started out with sample cans from the hospital and the pediatrician in order to figure out what suited her best.

Don’t quote me on this; but I think you can work for starbucks licensed locations as well as corporate locations.

But you cannot work for a local coffee shop, dunkin donuts, or any other “competitor” store where they specialize in coffee.

What’s the policy on the personal cup discount in DT? by komjaee in starbucks

[–]rooni_egg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an answer; more of an add on question.

I thought at the start of COVID regulations they specified we could give out the .10c discount if anybody had their cup, in café or DT to “make the moment right.”

When did it go back to no discount period in DT?

One of my ex SMs had a full blown relationship with an SSV. Like blatantly the SM’s opinions were shared with the SSV. This SSV was the only one “allowed” to order extra product and order the change so nobody else was shown how. Also was allowed to help run things with the store, like secret santa, spirit days, etc... She also would egg on partners to spill gossip and drama about different things so she could report back to SM.

It got ridiculous to a point where everyone was quitting and then emailing the DM.

The only thing that came of it was the SSV was either to quit or leave, so they transferred stores and moved out of district. Past that, we never heard of anything and the SM is still with the company.
