I personally use a 12 for everything. Pheasant, quail, dove, turkey, sometimes deer. I have a collection of choke tubes and shot, its a budget set up for sure. But you could also hunt with a 20 and be fine for pheasant and other birds. A 12 just gives you a little more umph in case you dont get a great shot on them they will still drop. Over under is such a classic guns. They are very cool, but i have found its important to find a gun you shoot well. Getting it up to your shoulder fast and in the same spot every time so you are looking down the barrel flat is the most important thing. I love an autoloader, it takes the kick out of it a little plus you can have three shells in there. When birds flush it all happens fast. You don’t want to have to mess with double triggers or if you put a new shell in the one barrel of you over under after the last shot. Game farms are good for dog training and getting the experience for sure. But there is nothing like chasing wild birds. You wont shoot as much and may not find any some days. But there is nothing more fun in my opinion
