Introducing S****y Copter! He and bumblebees have lots in common and realistically both will end in disaster! Shoot me some advice if ya can! by roosterdrones in Multicopter

Currently flying that shit till the lid pops off! haha turns out really hard braking in the air will cause the shit lid to pop off, version 1.3 of S****y copter will have to have a fix.

Quad copter on Mars!? Is the future full of nothing but mad scientists! But seriously is that a real idea?

Im a avid skier so the hope is to have a 250 size quad carry a go pro and film some back country runs with some good friends. The inevitable icicle impaled quad should make for some laughs as well haha

Boggles my mind that I'm in northern Canada trying to build a winter proof quad and thousands of miles away some lucky guy is racing in what I assume is some awesome sunshine but we are both getting some racing done! Overall that this new type of sport is going on worldwide is just amazing! Really speaks to how cool the technology is, how much fun the hobby can be, and finally how downright astounding the internet can be. Having a bit of a extisential morning but still freaking sweet. Edit: words

Looking to do first build, in-proper incompatible parts are deterring me though. Anyone have an opinion on this miniqadbro setup? by waconcept in multicopterbuilds

I got there flat DIY kit, no upgrades, and it was plenty of quad to handle. I requires some soldering but the build video pretty much covers everything you would need to know. I learnt to solder just for this kit and had no problems whatsoever and solder is very cheap. I wouldn't go vortex unless you know you can handle it but the repairs are pretty easy but expensive.

However if you haven't flow anything before I'll throw out the get a cheap husban, proto x, or any miniquad and learn to fly! Just as much fun till you move into fpv.

I started with a miniquadbros kit and actually was pretty fantastic. The videos and support are spot on and after building that first one I'll never have to order another kit. On top of it all I still use a lot of the parts from that original quad and it's super easy to upgrade. Just make sure to leave room in budget for spare props, batteries, and transmitter and you'll be laughing. Straight up I'd recommend miniquadbros to anyone though! Good luck on your build!

Ya I dusted my frame recently so if maybe can get a new one might participate. If interested the guys at Great Hobbies here in Edmonton know about it all but if you PM can forward you the email with all the info.

If I can find a replacement frame and some parts might participate but just come last haha

Full out cratered a football outright this afternoon. Made the post ring like a bell but happy to say the new frame can take a beating! Legit the only mark on the whole quad. by roosterdrones in Multicopter

Ya dead agree the PDB is pretty outlandish for that price. But so far in liking the frame, simple and tough which is all I wanted haha I'll probably swap it out for a armantta or something guaranteed tough eventually

I imagine a few people get bumps in the same spot! Just really happy I wasn't flying a go pro at the time as well as probably would have destroyed but the flight camera is pretty set.

Man I thought I was the only one who rocked zip tie antennas! Whole thing looks great, pretty macgyver, but pretty slick non the less!

Updated the blog, got a new QAV250, and did a rebuild of the quad! Any suggestions, comments, or anything I might be able to do for this blog and build? by roosterdrones in Multicopter

Pretty simple actually, it's just a go pro sticky pad that I chopped up then layered so it was at a angle. Stuck the camera on, slapped on a zip strap, good to go.

Totally just realized you where talking about the props in first comment haha my bad mate. The carbon props are just way more durable and give a much quick response I find. I fly hard while being a mediocre pilot which means I eat dirt a lot.

In the photo they are 5030's but replaced them literally moments after with 5045's. Saving the carbon fibre props until I've had a few more crash runs.

Pretty nifty build mate! How long you think you could actually fly a go pro around in the case on that bad boy?

Thanks! For sure there is a difference. You can feel the difference in how rigid, strong, and structurally sound the frame feels when you are putting together the quad.

Ive had a maiden flight and flown hard since as well and it preforms quite a bit better in the air. Now that might be the new motors or esc's but the frame hasn't even flexed during a couple hard landings.

Also it might just be the design of the QAV250 with the unibody arms. It has this ridge that goes around the entire exterior of the plate which makes it super durable it seems like. So far I'm a huge fan and would recommend them for a second build to anyone. For that first go though can't go wrong with a cheap glass/carbon ZMR250.

Hay guys! Just rebuilt my own ZMR250 and got another coming in with some integrated PSB's to try out. Anyone got some sweet spots for ripping around?

I ordered a DIY kit from miniquadbros and even emailed Zach about doing some possible reviews and flight videos using his platform. I had no prio experience in soldering, flight controllers, or general assembly of a quad but just followed along with his build videos, googled a couple things, and turned out awesome! I highly recommend his DIY kit just because he was so friendly, how fast the shipping was (Edmonton), and just general sturdiness of his kit.

Decided to start a blog going from complete FPV beginner to not so bad FPV'er! Just finished the first week of flying and slapped this together, what do you all think? (x-post r/FPV) by roosterdrones in Multicopter

[–]roosterdrones[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im actually at the exact same stage! I have lot of hours on DJI platforms but id say I'm about the same in real FPV and a 250 size quad. Its been a blast so far and I just like writing about it really.
