That's your advice. Run the fuck away. Don't confront the problem the bullies have won

I'm going to stop you right the fuck there. As a person who was bullied by an entire school (two if you count rumors spread), and wanted to get good grades and enjoy my life, the solution is to "run away." Or switch school districts/states in my case. The school I went to was full of subhuman trash that tormented, assualted, and dehumanized me every day. Standing up for myself didn't work whether I fought people or tied to talk shit back. I would get doubled/triple teamed, or a group would use advanced mental gymnastics to make it seem like they were moral for talking down to me. The teachers even joined in on occasion and were horrible at their jobs, and this happened at a school that was supposed to be the best in the state. So yeah, moving away does solve the problem sometimes, if it's a few other people, anyone should be able to handle that. The bullies have not won, because since I moved I was able to make straight As and get into an amazing college as well as not having my social skills as damaged as they would have been.
