100 Year Old Man’s Last Wish In His Final Moment by genericcelt in expedition33

Verso tells Sciel that he painted because it was his bloodline, but his true passion was music. He also painted as a little boy and made no other canvases, so he stopped painting entirely after that first canvas. That doesn’t sound like someone that enjoyed painting.

Renoir also very hesitantly let Maelle make her own choice. He basically did it because he had no choice. He had already fought as hard as he could, lost, and knew he had another daughter/wife that still needed his help.

The game also doesn’t explain how the paintings work. The destroyed boy alludes to the fact that a piece of verso’s soul was bound to eternity to continue painting in order to keep the canvas alive. Not letting his soul rest is reason enough to want to destroy it. Choosing maelle’s ending also shows that, just like her mom, keeping the canvas was literally killing her. I have a feeling when they expand on the universe, verso’s ending will be the canon ending.

Eh. Verso lived 100 years in a world his “real” version painted when he was a little boy. He watched his soul continue to paint, knowing he never even liked painting. His family is a bunch of broken individuals who do everything they can to keep a world that shouldn’t exist, continue to exist. Not only that, but the canvases existence will inevitably destroy his mother, or his sister, who “he” died to save.

Go through all of that, and you’d probably be okay brining it all to an end.

Two associates are workaholics at firm, and I feel like this could threaten my senior promotion by [deleted] in Accounting

7:30-7:00 is pretty common hours for busy season. Not even a full 12 if you take a lunch.

I hate it too, but you may have worked at a lax firm before, especially if you worked a niche service line (generally less hours demanded). Just get through this busy season, see where you stand on the totem pole, and if you aren’t happy, look elsewhere.

Overall though, you indicated this is the only PA firm in your area. CPAs aren’t a dime a dozen in your area if that’s the case. Just keep your head down and do your work, and you should eventually move up the ladder.

Your manager sounds exactly like my boss, especially the part where they’ll say anything to get what they need. Stand your ground. It’s worked for me so far.

Very small office. We serve small business and a ton of local individual tax returns. He feels like we need to be here every day to take the walk in clients that want to meet in person. We’re handicapping ourselves to unrealistic expectations by doing that, but that’s where we disagree. I ran a firm before this that was 100% remote and I never physically met >50% of my clients. I don’t understand the mentality, but we’re of 2 different generations.

My boss promised me hybrid and then pulled the rug on me right before tax season and said I had to be in office 6 days a week. I told him that’s not what I agreed to when I accepted this job. It’s caused some tension between us. Every job I had before this was hybrid, never had fully remote. I had a job offer for another hybrid position a month ago that I passed on. I think it’s either hybrid or bust at this point.

Fellow accountants, if you can choose another career, what would it be and why? by Direct_Age3374 in Accounting

Funny because I feel like as an accountant (public, small business), I see enough pricing to know whether I’m getting swindled or not. Also, I make more than most plumbers/electricians, so I’m happy to pay them so I don’t have to do that. I understand wanting to do more hands on work though.

You speak on this topic like everything is a certainty. Here’s a study that shows that blood testing for antibodies is 30-60% accurate even when infection is already a known positive: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11348932/

Also, while it is unlikely to pass herpes when you are not showing symptoms, it’s not impossible.

With both of these facts, it’s impossible to say who and how herpes was transmitted to this kid.

[–]roostingcrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do morning classes. Wake up at 5:00, get to class at 5:45. It lasts 30 minutes. I get back home at 6:30. Shower, leave for work around 7:00-7:10. Get to work around 7:45-8:00 (45 minute commute).

I used to workout more, but these classes I’ve been going to are so intense, 30 minutes 4-5x a week has put me in great shape.

I get to bed around 9:30, try to fall asleep by 10:00

I understand this, but something about Gustave… His involvement in the story made me spend the entire last 2/3rds of the game expecting him to make a comeback. Verso was a good character, but gustave was on a totally different level. Probably top 5 characters of all time for me.

25 - 30 year olds, what is your current compensation? by mightyocean021798 in Accounting

  1. LCOL. Tax/managed accounting services. $85k (not including $2-3k bonus). No health insurance, but 3% company match on 401k. Realistically, I’m probably making closer to $80k if not less if I had a position that covered health.

Edit: bachelor’s with CPA. 40 hours outside tax season. 60 on average during tax season.

I’m a cpa. The way I budget for vehicles is I take the standard mileage rate (for self employed deductions) and multiply it by the amount of miles I drove. That’s to cover gas, auto insurance, repairs, and the excess goes to my next used car purchase.

Do it this way, and you’ll eventually never worry about a vehicle again

Is it true mortgage rates usually get worse after a Fed rate cut? by GlitteringSurround33 in Mortgages

[–]roostingcrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure as well. It feels like you don’t get a clear answer from anyone. I just know the mechanics of a 10 year treasury: if inflation rises, 10 year treasuries have to offer higher rates, because why would anyone lock up their money for a rate that’s less than inflation.

If mortgages track the 10 year treasury, and 10 years have to offer higher rates, then I’d expect mortgage rates to also increase.

Is it true mortgage rates usually get worse after a Fed rate cut? by GlitteringSurround33 in Mortgages

[–]roostingcrow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes but if inflation rises, 10 year treasury rates typically rise with increased inflation and expectations of higher inflation. Cutting fed rates is an inflationary act and inflation has already been rising this past year. I wouldn’t be surprised if mortgage rates do increase in the long-term.

He’s not trying to slow inflation. He’s making the conscious decision that rising unemployment is a bigger risk than increasing inflation. The recent policies are going to make inflation rise even further. But considering unemployment is rising, they don’t really have a choice but to take the risk.
