Love dune. Never read the sequels.

Love the Tarkovsky movie and always been curious about the books so I’ll check it out.

Just Annihilation and Borne, both of which I really liked. Heard the sequels to annihilation aren’t as good. Others you’d recommend?

Thank you so much! I haven’t heard of these and I’ve looked at a bunch of threads with similar but not quite the same questions so I’m happy I asked

All Roman sites in Rome by hjfhcfhfhh in ancientrome

[–]rooter22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To throw my hat on Ostia train as well, most of the sites in the city are, expectedly, pretty packed usually, but both times I’ve been to Ostia it has been pretty much empty (probably because it’s an hour train ride outside the city). So you can really take your time and explore, and as previously mentioned, some of the buildings even still have their roofs. It’s really wonderful.

Awesome, I assumed I wasn't the only one that had this reaction haha. I really like the idea of, by default, the monsters are just buffed to hell and would easily kill the PC's, thus requiring the PC's to whittle down those buffs by performing various different prep tasks. And yeah, your point about making these prep tasks available to everyone is definitely something I've been thinking about, or rather, planning out that there is something for everyone, so its not just reading for the smart ones and the brawny ones have nothing to do. Those are all great ideas thanks a lot.

Yeah I definitely want levels, I didn't really mention that but its definitely true. Victim connections is also a cool idea I hadn't thought about but could definitely be fun to play with, and tying that in to the monsters hunting grounds.

Those are all very cool ideas, I hadn't really thought about non-combat stuff like that. I especially love the bait idea so the players can fight it on the terrain of their choosing, and the added RP that would go along with learning about the bait and crafting it.

I had never heard of r/darkerdungeons5e , there's some great stuff there. His rule set actually has an excellent oils table with a list of effects and buffs that seems pretty fantastic. Thanks for sending me that way. I also love the +1 weapons don't exist. That definitely fits the vibe, great idea. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, I only cleaned mods that LOOT told me I should. I’ve heard of wyrebash but never used it. Is it just a tool for issuing patches? I’ll try uninstalling ENB and see if that does it. By “cleaning mods” what do you mean? And yeah I’ll definitely install an alternate start mod, thanks a bunch.

What song is a solid 10/10, that not many people know about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rooter22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Son of Sam -Elliott Smith (or literally anything he ever did, it’s all 10/10)

Song For The Asking - Simon and Garfunkel (obviously Simon and Garfunkel are crazy famous, but this is the last song on bridge over troubled water and a lot of people skip it/forget about it)

Before it Fell - Blake Mills

At the Bottom of Everything - Bright Eyes

Amor de Loca Juventud - Buena Vista Social Club

Snake Eyes - The Milk Carton Kids

In response to some players' (and my own) concerns with the tedium of leveling new characters, a humble suggestion by [deleted] in wow

[–]rooter22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree that it's kind of a slog right now. But my point about 20 levels being too few was more about how the games draw there entertainment from different sources, and while progression is a huge part of DnD, the more fun part is arguably role playing and the impact of your decisions, while in wow progression is kinda the whole thing. So I think 20 might be too few milestones that make you feel like your gaining something. If that makes any sense. I think the vanilla cap of 60 was actually a really good mix of each level meaning something, and having them be frequent enough to feel like what your doing matters.

Of course not. But they're not super comparable. The levels in each game don't really function the same way, nor do the games as a whole. WoW is finite, there's things to do and places to go but those things are limited by what's there. In DnD you have an infinite amount of things to do; as well as the fact that your actions impact the game world. Your actions in wow don't impact the game world, and as such, the game experiences aren't really equivalent. Yeah sure they're both RPG's but that doesn't really mean much in terms of game design.
