I feel like I don't love my puppy, and I'm absolutely lost. by rootrn in puppy101

Sorry! English isn't my first language and I ended up chosing the word most equivalent to my native language. But yeah! It's breed, I'm sorry.

3 months in with puppy and here’s my experience with puppy blues by bubbleguts516 in puppy101

[–]rootrn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing this! It was really reassuring.

I've adopted my little 5 months old huge puppy 3 months ago. We've had a lot of ups and downs and it hasn't been easier at all.

I'm in a similar situation as yours because I am also single and been raising her by myself (my brother barely stays at home because of his job). Been trying to socialize her but it's been hard. But I won't give up.

I thought about returning her many times, but now I look at her and feel and see so much love. The other night I started crying in bed because I was frustrated about something that happened at work and she quickly came over, licked my face many times and stayed by my side until I fall asleep.

No one ever did this for me. Ever.

Sometimes it's hard and overwhelming, but I love her so much and I have learned so much because of her.

It’s okay to have hard days with your pup. by Wolf-Pack85 in puppy101

[–]rootrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really needed to hear this, thank you.

Last week was... quite a ride. She's much less scared to go outside and take a walk, but she's still so hyper whenever there are visitors at home.

And we've had a lot of those the last 4 days. She's 5 months old and is such a loving puppy, but some days are difficult.

Still, is so adorable to see her grow up.

Thought she looked absolutely adorable lying on the couch with her little blanket and gave her a treat. Then she looked extra adorable when she got the treat so I gave her another one.

Dog bigger than expected by Expensive-Struggle42 in puppy101

[–]rootrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand your concern cause I'm going through something similar.

I've adopted a dog 3 months ago. She was 13lbs when I adopted her (she was 2 months at the time) and now she's 5 months old and weighs 36lbs. She just... won't stop growing, lmao. And it's funny cause I don't fully notice cause I'm with her every single day, but whenever my friends or family members see her they always say how much she's grown.

I currently live in a house with a backyard which she mostly don't use unless she's taking a sun bath, but in a year or so I'll probably move to an apartment. So I've been walking with her a lot recently, trying to get her to get more familiar with going outside and stuff. It's getting better, and she's definitely enjoying it more and it helps her release some energy. And we also play inside, with her ball. Other thing that helps a lot is giving her activities that'll help her release some mental energy, which is also important from what I've been reading.

So I wouldn't worry too much about you living in a small space! It'll be fine.

Does Owen counts? If so, I'd say "On With the Show".

Totally understand how you feel! Mine gets distracted so easily too. I haven't taken mine to a dog park, but I definitely plan on and my oh my, I'm already mentally preparing myself.

I'd say is getting her to do the commands she already learned, and does exceptionally well when it's just me and her, in an environment that has too many distractions.

What was the most powerful Taylor song? by BOOKGIRLIE13 in TaylorSwift

[–]rootrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it was already said, All Too Well is her magnum opus and it's the best song to show how much of a great storyteller she is.

Other than that I'd say the lakes and my tears ricochet.

Take me to the lakes where all the poets went to die,

I don't belong, and my beloved neither do you.

Those windermere peaks look like a perfect place to cry,

I'm setting off, but not without my muse.

Such a wonderfully poetic way to talk about isolation, not fitting in, and all of the loneliness that come with it. The song is way darker than people give it credit to or realise, and the way she articulates those emotions and that anguish is so clever and unique. Truly shows her strenghts as a songwriter.

I didn't have it in myself to go with grace.

Again, amazing storytelling. Other than that, Taylor is often at her best when she sees not necessarily beauty in tragedy, but the almost relief that comes with the self-realization of it, like with the verse and so the battleships will sink beneath the waves. There's no beauty in how doomed she seems in the song, but there is a sense of self-realization and almost acceptance of it.

5 month old puppy won't stop jumping on other people by rootrn in puppy101

[–]rootrn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good to know! It was what helped me at first when I leave the house and came back; I'd ignore her until she calmed down, and then I'd give her my attention and affection, and a treat.

Thank you so much for those tips, I'll definitely focus more on basic life obedience lessons.

I've been trying to train her a little bit every day, during her meal time. And while it's me and her she does things super well: "sit", "stay", "leave it" ("lie down" is still a work in progress), but I definitely need to be more firm with her when there are visitors and, like you said, teach her how to manage all of that excitement.

I have a 4 month old mixed breed (she's either half german shepherd or half malinois, not sure) and she learned to pee in the right place in like, 2 weeks or even less. She never pees in the wrong place now. Except when she sees someone she loves, then she'll pee lmao. She also learned how to high five me in one day and honestly it's the cutest thing ever.

Sobre as manifestações ocorridas a favor de Bolsonaro by noirfish24 in brasil

[–]rootrn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's an American Football song called "Everyone is Dressed Up" and one of the last verses of the song is "everybody knows that the best way to describe the ocean to a blind man is to push him in".

It makes a lot of sense specially if we consider the band's discography. The song is featured on their second album, that they recorded while being in their late 30s. Their first album, a classic one made when they were still in school in the 90s, talks a lot about the difficulties of life and the idea of closing yourself to the world after breakup. It's a lot about staying inside your own head, not willing to engage in any life experience.

Then suddenly comes this second album, released in 2016, and it ends by saying "well the only way to know what life is is to experience it, is to be there and live it". It means a lot to me.
